The milestone, known as a crystal anniversary, comes 15 years after their wedding ceremony on April 29 2011

Prince William and the Princess of Wales are marking their 15th wedding anniversary today with the release of a new family portrait.

The image captures the couple alongside their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — relaxing together on the grass.

Photographer Matt Porteous took the picture during the family's Easter break in Cornwall.

All five family members appear barefoot in the shot, with everyone except Catherine dressed in shorts, lying shoulder to shoulder in a row. Young Louis can be seen with his legs resting on his mother.

The family's black cocker spaniel Orla features beside William, while their second pet, a brown spaniel kept from one of Orla's litters last year, also appears in the frame.

Accompanying the photograph, the royal couple shared a simple message: "Celebrating 15 years of marriage."

The milestone, known as a crystal anniversary, comes 15 years after their wedding ceremony on April 29 2011, which captivated viewers across the globe and signalled a fresh era for the British monarchy.

The couple first crossed paths while studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where their romance began.

Today, they have established their family base at Forest Lodge, a Georgian mansion nestled in a secluded area of Windsor Great Park.

The Grade II-listed property sits within a two-mile exclusion zone, offering the family considerable privacy.

Despite holding only a 20-year lease on the residence, the tranquil retreat appears destined to serve as their permanent home.

Last year, the pair marked their anniversary privately at a remote location on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides — a return to the country where their love story started.

The couple are renowned for their practical approach to raising their children, requiring them to help with household tasks such as laying the table, doing the washing up and keeping their bedrooms tidy.

Mobile phones remain off-limits for the young royals.

The Princess of Wales has spoken about the importance of being present for her children and creating a nurturing environment, prioritising motherhood above all else.

Catherine's professional endeavours centre on her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, an initiative dedicated to ensuring every child receives the strongest possible start in life and fostering a more supportive society.

This year has seen a notable uptick in the number of engagements the couple have undertaken together, with William and Catherine travelling extensively throughout the country.

For this anniversary, the prince is understood to have purchased jewellery for his wife — a customary gesture he repeats for birthdays, anniversaries and to commemorate the birth of each child.
