Shaking up your hair-washing routine could lead to enviable locks

Using the right shampoo for your hair type will help it look its best and stay healthy.

Washing your hair twice when in the shower can also improve its appearance.

This is according to experts at luxury hair extension specialists Roxy Hair who shared the benefits of double washing.

They said: "Double shampooing has become a viral trend on social media, in which people apply two loads of shampoo before rinsing as usual.

Shampooing twice can really get rid of impurities

"The first wash is intended to break down any stubborn impurities, while the second wash ensures that these are thoroughly washed away.

"This technique is fantastic for cleansing the scalp, which prevents the risk of dandruff."

Double shampooing can also keep your hair fresher for longer, extending the time between washes.

Washing your hair twice can get rid of all dirt, making way for hair that really shines.

However, the experts warned against doing this too often and said it works best when you have used a lot of product or have hair that is particularly dirty.

They added: "If overused, this method can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving you with a dry and irritated scalp. Because of this, it’s important to only use this technique occasionally."

Another staple in most people's hair care routine is using conditioner but the experts added it might be best to "leave the conditioner behind".

It could be worth ditching the conditioner

"It has often been voiced that conditioners can result in oily-looking hair, which is why it’s becoming increasingly common for people to leave these products behind.

"If you do use conditioner in your hair care routine, it’s essential not to apply this product directly to your scalp.

"Otherwise, this can leave you with flat and damaged hair. For increased volume, it’s better to apply a small amount of conditioner to only the ends of your hair."
