Where eggs are stored can affect how long they last

Eggs are a staple ingredient that can be used to cook a range of dishes.

They are long-lasting and don't go out of date quickly.

However, how they are stored could prolong - or shorten - their shelf life even more.

There is often debate about whether eggs should be kept in the fridge or in the cupboard.

Co-founder of Too Good To Go Jamie Crummie has waded into the debate and shared advice on how to keep eggs fresh.

He suggested Britons keep eggs in the fridge to help them last as long as possible.

Jamie explained: "Eggs should be stored in a cool, dry place – ideally in the fridge.

"Keeping the eggs in the cold will make them last longer."

Over a third of Britons store their eggs in the cupboard which could impact how long they last.

When keeping eggs in the first, it is also important to store them in the right part of the appliance.

The expert added: "Make sure you keep them near the back of your fridge as constant changes in temperature can make them go off more quickly."

Although egg storage is often built into the doors of fridges, this is not necessarily the best place to keep them.
