|Laura made several tweaks to her lifestyle
Holly Hasan's weight-loss strategy incorporated seven key elements that she found essential for her transformation, including:
- A calorie deficit
- Walking at least 15k steps a day
- Tracking what you eat
- Getting into a routine
- Drinking two to three litres of water a day
- Remembering it’s okay to have bad days
- Working out from home
While walking became a core component in Laura's weight loss journey, home-based exercises complemented the regimen and eliminated the need for a gym membership.
Walking offers substantial health advantages without requiring extensive time commitments or physical strain.
The NHS advises that even brief 10-minute walks can deliver significant health improvements for those seeking to become more active.
While 10,000 daily steps has become the widely recognised benchmark for physical activity, contemporary research suggests that 7,000 steps might be adequate for achieving notable health benefits.
A 2019 study published in the journal Obesity found that "engagement in 200 to 300 minutes per week of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity is also predictive of improved long-term weight loss".
Further research indicates that combining walking with complementary weight-loss approaches, such as proper hydration, can enhance overall results.

Consistency is crucial for supporting weight loss
Morning hydration plays a vital role in supporting weight-loss efforts, according to medical professionals.
Dr Catherine Hyatt, Medical content lead at Levity, explained to GB News: "In the morning, those looking to lose weight should get into the habit of drinking a couple of glasses of water before breakfast."
She highlighted the importance of starting each day properly hydrated, explaining that dehydration can often be confused with hunger sensations.
"Being well-hydrated from the start of the day is super important, as otherwise it is easy to mistake thirst for hunger," Dr Hyatt shared.
