Ricky Gervais has taken on a new venture away from the stand-up stage

Ricky Gervais has given his fans an exciting update on a new project he has been working on away from the glitz and glam – and controversy – of stand-up comedy.

Best known for his comedy gigs, Gervais has now embarked on the journey of creating the perfect spirit as he recently announced his partnership with the British business, Ellers Farm Distillery.

Promoting the vodka produced at the distillery, Gervais posted on his X account an image of himself alongside multiple crates of the spirit as he celebrated a new milestone for the business.

He revealed: “Just dropped off 600 bottles of Dutch Barn Vodka at Costco in Watford. Always working.”

He then followed up his tweet with a professional image of his vodka being poured into a glass and said: “Update: @DutchBarnVodka is now available in all @Costco depots across the UK.

“Another huge milestone in our journey as the fastest-growing Vodka brand in the UK. Cheer!”(sic)

Fans of Gervais were thrilled with the news as one X user said: “Can’t wait till it makes it to the U.S. I am very excited to be a loyal Dutch Barn Vodka customer.”

Another praised: “Incredible achievement! So proud of all your hard work paying off. Cheers to many more milestones ahead!”

“That will look rather lovely in my new bar,” a third added with a fourth quipping: “Waiting for its accessibility in US too.”

“There has never been excitement like it in my house. What a legend bringing out the best spirit to exist,” a fifth user noted. (sic)

Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka posted a video of Gervais discussing his new drink after he’d been named as a co-owner of Ellers Farm Distillery.

In typical Gervais humour, the After Life star said to potential customers: “I am thrilled to announce I am now co-owner Ellers Farm Distillery and we make Dutch Barn Vodka.

“It tastes great, it is made from British apples and we’re committed to sustainability and protection of the eco system.”

He went on to joke the spirits could make him “hundreds of millions pounds” as he quipped the environmental benefits were a secondary positive factor.

Ellers Farm Distillery is based in North Yorkshire using only British produce and states on their website: “The foundation of our story is built on the simple principle of balancing people, planet and profit.

“We understand that restoring and protecting our planet and treating people with respect is for the good of everyone.

“But let’s remember that we’re building a distillery and intend to have a little bit of fun along the way!

“Our intention is to produce spirits that are the best for the world while being the world’s best. And we’ll do it all with smiles on our faces and a glass in our hands!”

Gervais isn’t the only one who is encouraging British farming as The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson raises awareness for buying local on his show Clarkson’s Farm.

Clarkson runs his farm, Diddly Squat, alongside his sidekick Kaleb Cooper, partner Lisa Hogan and other series regulars.

With the third series kicking off on May 3, 2024, many fans have witnessed the troubles and challenges that the team have faced, including battles with the council and contemplating selling the farm for good.
