Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is "ready" for direct face-to-face talks with Vladimir Putin in order to end the war in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian President made the declaration whilst talking to reporters during the summit hosted by Donald Trump in Washington.
The statement was in response to a journalist asking Mr Zelensky whether he is prepared "to keep sending Ukrainian troops to their deaths".

He said: "We support the idea of the United States, of personally President Trump, to stop this war, to make a diplomatic way of finishing this war.
"And we are ready for a trilateral, as [Donald Trump] said."
Mr Trump had previously told reporters: "If everything works out well, we will have a tri-lat [between himself, Zelensky and Putin] and have a good chance of ending the war."
The meeting between Mr Trump, Mr Zelensky, and other European leaders took place at the White House on Monday evening.

Prior to talks involving all the leaders present, Mr Zelensky spent an hour meeting with just Mr Trump, during which he was presented with a giant battlefield map which showed the 20 per cent of the country which is under Russian control.
The summit was a stark contrast to the pair's previous meeting in February, which ended with the Ukrainian President being asked to leave the White House.
Mr Trump started the discussion by saying it was "an honour" to host Mr Zelensky, and declaring they have had "a lot of good talks" which have made "substantial progress".
In response, the Ukrainian leader said thank you seven times during his opening speech.

Once inside the Oval Office, Mr Zelensky gave Mr Trump a letter from his wife, Olena Zelenska, for the First Lady Melania Trump, thanking her for highlighting the current situation regarding Russian forces kidnapping Ukrainian children.
However, Mr Trump did admit this conflict is "a tough one", and has repeatedly said that whilst he would like a ceasefire to "stop the killing immediately", he does not believe it is necessary in order to reach peace.
But, both France's Emmanuel macron and Friedrich Merz of Germany challenged this, and pushed for a halt in the fighting before another meeting takes place.
After the summit and press conference, the US President left to call Mr Putin who was "expecting his call".

Discussions about a potential trilateral meeting have suggested it could take place as early as this week in Europe, with possible locations including Rome and Geneva.
Sir Keir Starmer, who interrupted his summer holiday to fly to Washington and attend the summit, reiterated the necessity to "get this right".
The Prime Minister said: "This war in Ukraine has been going on for a really long time now, three-plus years.
"It's hugely impacted the Ukrainians who've suffered hugely but it's also affected Europe - it's impacted every single family and community in the United Kingdom.
"And so everybody wants it to end, not least the Ukrainians, but we've got to get it right.
"We've got to make sure there is peace, that it is lasting peace, that it is fair and that it is just."
