The presenter admitted to an affair with a much younger colleague

The Phillip Schofield affair saga could move into a “whole different realm” should the young runner opt to speak out, according to Nigel Nelson.

GB News Senior Political Commentator Nigel Nelson says the presenter’s woes could be set to deepen.

Schofield admitted to an affair with a much younger colleague which prompted his resignation from ITV.

His talent agency, YMU, also opted to ditch the broadcaster after he was found to have lied on the matter to his ex-colleagues, friends and family.

Nigel Nelson told GB News that the situation could be about to get a whole lot worse for Schofield should his former love interest opt to speak out on the matter.

He told Dawn Neesom and Andrew Pierce: “The investigation that ITV did doesn't seem to be much of an investigation.

“What they need now is to come clean about how well that investigation was conducted and if it wasn’t, have a new one.”

Andrew Pierce added that the young individual may have signed agreements preventing him from speaking out on the issue, telling Nigel Nelson: “We understand there are nondisclosure agreements around him which will expire quite soon.

“In which case, if he then goes public, that could be a prettydifficult time for ITV.”

The GB News Senior Political Commentator responded: :”I’d be surprised if a non-disclosure agreement would cover everything that that happened.

“I mean, it should be a non-disclosure agreement about what he knows about ITV.

“So we will see. But obviously, should he decide to tell his story, this will go into a whole different realm.”

Lawyers representing Schofield have confirmed they met when the boy was 15, but said the affair began after he started working at ITV, and the man’s lawyers have also said that it started after he joined the broadcaster.

In a statement on Friday, Schofield said it was when the younger man joined the show as an adult that their affair began.

ITV said it investigated “rumours of a relationship” between Schofield and the ITV employee about three years ago but both parties “categorically and repeatedly denied” it.

A spokesperson for the broadcaster said on Saturday that ITV was “not provided with, and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour” when it looked into the matter in 2020.
