The broadcaster is expected to publish a set of allegations today against the GB News presenter

ITV is refusing to send Nigel Farage’s team the footage that they allege shows the former politician using a racist term, allies close to the former politician told GB News.

The broadcaster is reportedly planning to put out allegations about the GB News presenter made during a video clip he made with personalised video messaging service, Cameo.

“We asked ITV to send us the video three times and they refused. How can Nigel’s legal team be expected to comment on a video they haven’t seen?”, allies told this broadcaster.

They added that ITV News had only sent a transcript of the alleged footage.

ITV has come under fire today from Farage’s team, who have accused ITV of a “stitch-up” as he is unable to reply while filming I’m a Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!.

Allies of the GB News presenter are also frustrated by the timing of the ITV investigation, which is reportedly being made public on the day of the first elimination from the programme.

A source told GB News of the claims: "Over the last few years, Nigel has filmed over 4,000 cameo messages for fans and supporters.

“This includes videos for people’s weddings, birthdays, stag dos, in-jokes between friends and even people who are ill in hospital."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The Daily Express claims to have seen emails sent to Farage's team in which ITV has asked for a response by a strict deadline - even though Farage is still a campmate in the jungle.

A source told GB News of the claims: "Over the last few years, Nigel has filmed over 4,000 cameo messages for fans and supporters.

“This includes videos for people’s weddings, birthdays, stag dos, in-jokes between friends and even people who are ill in hospital.

“When Nigel first joined Cameo, there was a concerted effort by Remain supporters to hijack the platform to embarrass Nigel by getting him to read out obscure rude words and in-jokes between friends.

“It is widely reported that some of these slipped through the net, as Nigel is a classic Boomer Dad. In the video (in question), Nigel was asked by a customer on Cameo to read a message they had written for a friend.

“Had Nigel known that the message he was asked to read contained an obscure offensive word he would not have made the video.

"For ITV News to ask Nigel to respond when they know he contractually can’t is a complete stitch-up. Is it a coincidence that this attack by ITV was to be revealed on the same day that voting lines open for supporters to decide who will remain in the jungle?

“The aim of Nigel going into camp was to reach a new audience. It is clear he is starting to do that. His campmates like him and so does the huge audience of the show. Maybe their greatest fear is that Nigel becomes King of the Jungle.”

GB News has contacted ITV for comment regarding the claims.
