The MasterChef star was chosen to take on the next Bushtucker Trial of the series

A number of I'm A Celebrity viewers have been left dumbfounded after restaurant critic Grace Dent was voted to take on the latest Bushtucker Trial.

Dent is currently in Snake Rock after the camp was split into two alongside Tony Bellew, Nigel Farage, Josie Gibson, Nick Picard and Marvin Humes.

Now known as the "Away Team", the six celebrities were split from their campmates after losing the Locker Shocker trial earlier in the day.

While most of the losing famous faces put up a valiant effort during the task in order to try and avoid Snake Rock, Dent caught the eye of viewers for failing to earn a single star, staying quiet, and seemingly not keen to take part.

But despite her underwhelming performance, Dent was voted as the star the general public wanted to take on the next Bushtucker Trial over her five Snake Rock campmates.

Ant and Dec arrived in camp and revealed it might have been either Dent or Farage taking part and the latter's face echoed the surprise of ITV viewers when it was revealed the 50-year-old had been chosen.

The shock trickled over onto X, formerly Twitter, with one viewer reacting to the result: "Who the f*** is voting grace to do the trial I nearly forgot she was in there until then! #ImACeleb."

A second echoed: "Who on earth actually voted for grace? Nick should've been it, he's just happy to participate & he deserves the screen time #ImaCeleb."

Elsewhere, a third was surprised Farage wasn't the one tasked with the trial: "Did not expect grace to be chosen over Nigel farage #imaceleb."

And a fourth was similarly surprised: "Who’s voting Grace over Nigel?! Show yourself on here! I’m calling BULLS***! #ImaCeleb #ImACelebrity," followed by a laughing emoji.

"Who voted grace? Ffs #ImaCeleb," a fifth weighed in while a sixth was similarly bemused: "Grace?! Really?! Who's been voting for her? She's been a complete non entity so far... #ImACeleb."

However, amid the shock were a few fans who backed Dent to take on the trial over Farage and her other campmates, including one who argued: "Yes!! I was hoping it would be Grace. Let her put some bloody effort in. #ImACeleb."

And a second suggested: "Guessing a majority of people did [vote for Dent] cause she was sooooooo shockingly bad earlier...." (sic)

Luckily for Farage fans, they will still get to see him take part in the trial after Bellew was able to nominate one extra campmate to accompany Dent.

In a first-look preview at the task, Dent and Farage take on Nella Rose and Sam Thompson in what has been dubbed Touchdown of Terror.

The two pairs will be locking horns in an attempt to bag points for their team - although it won't be the first time Farage and Rose have faced off this series.

The pair were embroiled in a heated row when Rose quizzed Farage over his stance on immigration, even asking the GB News star: "Why don't black people like you?"

Rose's comments sparked fury from a number of ITV viewers with some accusing the 26-year-old YouTuber of "racism".
