The couple first found fame on Channel 4 after moving to France and renovating their historic Château

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree are readying themselves to return to screens in the new TV series Secret France with Dick & Angel following Escape to the Chateau's ending.

Escape to the Chateau ran for six years and saw fans of the show watch Adoree and Strawbridge renovate their French home, kick-start their ever-thriving business and watch their two children - Arthur, 11 and Dorothy, 10 - grow up.

In May 2023, it was announced that Channel 4 was cutting ties with the duo after concerns were raised over the pair's conduct behind the scenes with some of the staff and crew.

Whilst they have been away from the TV screens, the pair have still been busy as they recently returned from their Dare to Do It Tour in America, and continue to have success on their podcast, Dick & Angel Chat...Eau.

However, on Sunday, June 2, the couple will finally be returning to viewers' screens and despite cutting ties, it will be on Channel 4.

The couple announced the new series on their Instagram account and wrote: "We have some very exciting news & we want you to be the first to know!

"We are back on Channel 4 with our brand-new travel series ‘Secret France with Dick & Angel’ starting Sunday 2nd June at 8pm.

"It’s been a voyage of discovery and we wanted to find places that were off the beaten path, where tourism hasn’t overshadowed the local culture. We hope you join us on our journey. Love, Dick & Angel."

Viewers were elated to hear the news of their return, with one user commenting: "Woooooooooooo lovely to have you back in our living room."

"Oh wow! Brilliant, you’ve all been missed," another said before a third added: "How exciting, hope we can watch this in the States. We have missed your sweet family, your adventures and projects."

Someone else shared: "I am so pleased your back on TV can't wait." (sic)

The series will see Adoree and Strawbridge visit some of the lesser-seen parts of France, with their adventures and discoveries being captured in a three-part series, sharing how they go off the beaten track and explore areas of the country few tourists visit.

Episode one follows the couple in Marseille, checking out the seaside seafood and watching the magic of flamingoes take flight, unlocking the wonders of the cultural melting pot of marvellous Marseille.

In episode two they travel to Gascony where they embrace the slower pace of life, before travelling along to Auvergne in the episode where a change in climate forces them to wrap up warm.

Teasing what's to come, Strawbridge and Adoree said: "It's been a voyage of discovery and we wanted to find places that were off the beaten path, where tourism hasn't overshadowed the local culture.

"It was important to us that each episode felt authentic and truly showcased the essence of the area. We also relied a lot on word of mouth. When you're in these small communities, people love to share their favourite spots and stories. That personal touch made a big difference."

Last year it was reported that former colleagues of the Channel 4 stars "clashed with producers", with a source telling Deadline: "There has been a deteriorating relationship between Two Rivers and Dick and Angel’s Chateau TV for various reasons and it all came to a head.

"They don’t suffer fools. People who try to remotely manage them from the UK, that doesn’t work. Or people who come into their house and boss them around, that doesn’t work either," before cutting ties.

Speaking about their row last year and the decision to go ahead with the new series, a source told The Sun: "Despite cutting ties with the Strawbridges, it was always the intention that execs would broadcast the show at a later date.

"Channel 4 has pulled back on publicising the series and hasn't changed their position on working with Dick and Angel in the future after their internal review was completed."
