Actor Alec Baldwin and his brother Stephen were involved in a collision in the Hamptons on Monday when their vehicle struck a tree, causing significant damage to the front of the Range Rover.

The incident occurred on Montauk Highway in East Hampton, with photographs revealing extensive destruction to the vehicle's bonnet area following the head-on impact.

Local police responded promptly to the scene, where officers assisted the brothers whilst they sheltered from rain near the damaged white Range Rover.

The 67-year-old actor was photographed speaking with authorities and making telephone calls beside the wreckage.

Initial reports indicated neither brother sustained injuries requiring immediate medical attention,

However, Mr Baldwin later revealed visible facial marks in a social media post.

He took to Instagram on Monday evening to address the incident, explaining that he had swerved to avoid what he called a "garbage truck the size of a whale" before colliding with the tree.

"I hit a big fat tree, and crushed my car, my wife's car," the actor stated in the video post.

He went on to add: "I crushed my wife's car. I feel bad about that."

The Oscar-winning performer confirmed both he and Stephen were "fine" despite the accident, though he gestured towards injuries on his face whilst recording the message.

Mr Baldwin expressed gratitude to East Hampton police for their assistance, specifically thanking Officer Gerken by name, and reassured followers that "I'm fine, and my brother's fine, boppity-bop."

The collision took place whilst Mr Baldwin was in the area for the Hamptons International Film Festival, where he holds a position on the Board Executive Committee.

Sources indicated the actor had been present throughout the week, participating in screenings and moderating panel discussions at the event.

Mr Baldwin has maintained a residence in East Hampton since purchasing an estate there in 1995, having lived in the Hamptons region since the 1980s.

The property, which underwent multiple renovations over the years, was listed for sale at $29 million but was withdrawn from the market in July 2024 after failing to attract buyers.

The estate currently serves as the filming location for the Baldwin family's TLC reality programme.

The vehicle collision represents the latest in a series of challenges for Mr Baldwin. The actor faced involuntary manslaughter charges following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during filming of Rust in 2021.

Those charges were dismissed with prejudice in July 2024 after the court determined prosecutors had withheld potentially exculpatory evidence.

The actor has recently faced speculation about his marriage to Hilaria Baldwin, who was recently eliminated from Dancing With the Stars and disclosed the death of a family pet.

Their TLC reality programme, The Baldwins, has attracted criticism, whilst Mr Baldwin's lengthy portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live previously made him a political lightning rod.
