Kelvin and Liz Fletcher opened up about a devastating fire that destroyed their farmhouse.

Former Emmerdale star Mr Fletcher and his wife bought a 120-acre farm in the Peak District in 2021, creating a new life for themselves and their family.

Their series, Fletchers' Family Farm, is set to return to screens this week for its third series, but the husband and wife team have recently shared the impact of a fire that ripped through their land.

During a family holiday, the couple's farmhouse caught fire, with devastating consequences.

Mrs Fletcher recalled: "We took the whole family away, and a few days in, we got a call saying the house was on fire.

"Our first reaction was, 'Thank god we weren't here.'"

Sadly, the flames ripped through the roof of the home the family had been renovating for years, and the smoke damage left the home uninhabitable.

Mr Fletcher shared: "It was the stuff of nightmares. Our neighbour called us. She was in a panic, and the fire was roaring."

He continued: "But their hands were tied. The fire brigade was called. It was surreal. We were in another country, and there was nothing we could do."

Focusing on the positives, Mr Fletcher reflected: "We just have to clean up and tidy up."

Mrs Fletcher quipped: "One thing I love is a rebound. My ironing board's gone. Luckily, I never did any ironing."

Over the weekend, the pair confirmed when the third series of their show would air.

On Sunday, October 12, they shared a trailer for the series on Instagram along with a caption.

It read: "WE’RE BACK! Series 3 of Fletchers’ Family Farm! Sunday 19th October. 11.30am on ITV1."

Fans were quick to respond with positive reactions to the news, with one writing: "Best thing on TV."

"Great news, love this. Also repeats of Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh, followed by this. Fantastic Sunday morning," a second wrote.
