Enjoy temperatures up to 25°C this winter at these hidden gem destinations

Are you ready to book a holiday but struggling for inspiration? TUI's travel expert has shared the two overlooked holiday spots that are perfect at this time of year.

Britons searching for some winter sun while beating the crowds should consider lesser-known parts of Gran Canaria and Egypt.

Meloneras, in Gran Canaria, promises "year-round" sun with temperatures as high as 21°C in winter, making it the perfect destination for this time of year.

TUI Retail Manager Sarah Kemp spoke exclusively to GB News about the hidden gem and why you should add it to your travel wish list.

She explained: “A hidden gem that isn't too far from the UK is Meloneras in Gran Canaria. It often flies under the radar compared to the island's busier neighbourhoods.

"But it offers great hotels with stunning ocean views, a beautiful promenade lined with lovely restaurants, and year-round sunshine without the crowds of traditional hotspots like Playa del Inglés or the other Canary Islands."

To get to Meloneras, visitors can fly to Gran Canaria, where a relatively short taxi ride is available. Flights to Gran Canaria take around 4hr 30m and start from just £26.

If you're looking for something a bit further away, Marsa Alam in Egypt is another great recommendation, described as a "real hidden gem".

Kemp added: "A lot of people flock to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, but Marsa Alam is the new kid on the block and remains relatively undiscovered.

"It's the most southern of Egypt's resorts, so sunny weather's the norm, and its beautiful beaches are some of the most unspoilt along the Red Sea Coast.

"There is world-class diving and snorkelling with chances to swim alongside dolphins, turtles, and vibrant coral reefs; it really is special. Now's the perfect time to visit before it becomes the next big thing.”

Marsa Alam is another scorcher, with temperatures peaking at 25°C in winter, making it the perfect place to top up your tan.

It takes slightly longer to get there - with flights around 5hr 30m - but it is still reasonably affordable, with flight prices from £102.

With colder, darker days sweeping the UK, it is no surprise many Britons are looking to jet off for some vitamin D. Experts have shared the most popular Christmas holiday spots HAVE BEEN named as Britons look to escape the cold this winter.

The Canary Islands and Egypt are the most sought-after winter destinations for 2025, according to new booking data.
