Experts have named the must-visit campsite of 2025/2026

A North Yorkshire campsite is the place to book according to new data, taking home both the England title and the overall winner's crown.

St Helens in the Park in Wykeham has been named the AA Campsite of the Year, beating competition from across the country to claim the prestigious double win.

The 36-acre site sits on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and has impressed judges for the AA awards with its stunning landscaped grounds and thoughtful design.

From camping pods to a luxury lodge, the award-winning site offers something for everyone, including dedicated adults-only areas and family-friendly zones.

What makes this campsite stand out is its thoughtful design across the terraced landscape. Experts at AA describe it as having "beautiful landscaped grounds featuring an abundance of colourful, seasonal flowers".

The clever use of natural features creates a more intimate feel throughout the site. According to the experts, "the park is thoughtfully laid out over terraces, with tree screening creating smaller, more intimate areas."

This attention to detail extends to every corner of the 36-acre site, where visitors can find their perfect spot, whether they're after a quiet retreat or a family adventure.

The grounds showcase seasonal blooms that change throughout the year, adding to the site's charm.

Visitors can choose from various accommodation options beyond traditional pitches. The site features several camping pods with electricity, including two with en suite shower rooms and kitchenettes.

For those wanting a more luxurious stay, there's a fully furnished lodge offering premium self-catering accommodation.

The on-site amenities impressed the judges, too. Experts highlighted the "licensed, dog-friendly café with a delightful alfresco garden and decked seating area" as a standout feature.

There's also a well-stocked shop offering everyday essentials and pocket-money treats - perfect for those forgotten camping necessities or holiday indulgences.

This isn't the only campsite worth visiting, however. The research named the top places to go for various categories. Hallsdown Farm Touring Park in Arlington, Devon, was named the Small Campsite of the Year.

The experts said its top features are that it is adults-only, it is well-maintained and near some great walking routes, such as the Coastal Path or Exmoor. Eye Kettleby Lakes in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, was named the Most Improved Campsite of the Year.

The experts added: "A haven for lovers of coarse fishing and walking, this site, located in the hamlet of Eye Kettleby, provides very high standards. There are eight fishing lakes as well as designated walking areas and accommodation in lodges, a glamping forest and touring fields."
