Long-haul trips are great, but sticking closer to home can be just as relaxing without spending as much time or money.
This year, more holidaymakers are looking for spontaneous last-minute trips, and the most affordable destinations have been named.
This is according to new research from KAYAK, who found nearly 66 per cent of people plan to take several shorter trips this year, as opposed to two-week-long stints.
Holidaying closer to home is often cheaper and less time-consuming, meaning it is easier to book more spontaneously.
