British Airways will add new flights travelling from the UK to Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is becoming an increasingly popular choice for tourists, and British Airways will now give travellers more options to visit.

New routes will travel to Jeddah, joining a daily service to Riyadh.

Flights to both destinations will run from London Heathrow, with new routes to Jeddah starting on November 4, 2024.

The routes will depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, leaving London at 8.10pm, and holidaymakers can book flights from now.

There is a lot of business engagement between the UK and Saudi Arabia, but the destination is also becoming increasingly popular with tourists.

Jeddah enjoys mostly sunny conditions, although it is better to go in the winter months as temperatures can reach 40° in the summer.

"Experience the charm of Jeddah’s heritage as you wander through the historic streets of Al Balad," Visit Saudi states.

"Discover a shopping paradise at the Mall of Arabia and Red Sea Mall. Dive into the refreshing waters of the Red Sea or take a leisurely stroll along the Jeddah Corniche.

"Don't miss the spectacular King Fahd Fountain, a marvel that shoots water 312 meters into the sky."

British Airways also runs weekly routes to Riyadh, which has many attractions for tourists. Visit Saudi states: "Riyadh combines ancient history with modern dynamism, offering a glimpse into Arabia’s past and future.

"Explore the city's rich heritage through souqs, museums, and historical architecture, and experience its modern side with high-rises and a thriving art scene, highlighted by the Riyadh Art initiative that turns the city into an open-air gallery.

"Don't miss Riyadh Season, featuring themed zones like Boulevard City and the Riyadh Zoo, open year-round. For dining, try local delicacies at Najd Village restaurant."

Speaking on the new routes, British Airways’ chief commercial officer Colm Lacy said: “We have a long history of connecting families, friends and businesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with our home in London.

"There are significant opportunities for businesses in both countries, so we’re pleased we can re-build our connectivity and strengthen links between the two kingdoms.”

This comes as Jet2 added new routes from seven UK airports to a "picturesque" European destination. Britons will be able to take more trips to Bergen, Norway and its fjords.
