Some cities are more accommodating to family life than others, and a new study has highlighted the top options for 2026.
New research found the global cities where expat families will thrive. Some 47 cities were analysed, with Oslo, Norway, taking the number one spot.
The study analysed factors such as average salary, typical cost of living, healthcare quality and infrastructure scores, as well as maternity leave length and childcare costs. Destinations received a total score based on this.

Children, families and education are a real priority in the city, which is reflected in government policies and the financial support available.
The research found expats need only spend around 10 per cent of their salary on childcare bills - much lower than in other destinations on the list. Norway's largest city also offers great healthcare and clean air.
Hoping to move further afield? Abu Dhabi was next on the list. It offers year-round sun in a community built with a real focus on family life.
The country is "exceptionally safe" with "a low cost of living and short commutes", according to the study, which is great for supporting family life.
