Waiting to purchase after hitting shelves on March 11 could save you hundreds

  • The new Samsung Galaxy S26 series has been unveiled
  • These new handsets hit shelves on March 11, 2026
  • Although experts reveal that waiting to purchase could save you hundreds

You might want to pause on your plans of adding the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S26 series to your shopping basket. Samsung's brand new Galaxy S26 series and new Galaxy Buds 4 are set to hit shelves on March 11th, but holding off for a few months could save you a whopping £530.

According to comparison site experts from Idealo, historic pricing trends from previous Galaxy models reveal that prices typically tumble throughout the year — with prices falling by as much as 43% within 12 months of launch.

Katy Phillips, Senior Brand and Communications Manager at idealo, said “Idealo’s research shows that patience really does pay off. Delaying purchases by just few months could mean saving hundreds of pounds. For anyone who doesn’t need an upgrade immediately, waiting to purchase beyond launch day could make a significant difference to their spends.

“We’d recommend that shoppers start to track price fluctuations now and set up price alerts now, on apps like Idealo’s, to bag the best bargains that align with their preferred budget.”

Here's everything you need to know about how each model could break down in price throughout the year.

The standard Galaxy S26 has been announced with a starting price of £879 — nearly £100 more than the Galaxy S25 when it was first introduced. Idealo reveal that this price could drop to around £685 within just the first month.

If you're willing to play the long game and hold out until February 2027, then you could be paying as low a price as £592 — that's over £200 back in your pocket.

The larger Galaxy S26+ has shown different pricing trends in the past. Last year, the S25+ was launched at a starting price of £999. Experts say that if you prefer this model, then you may want to hang tight to your wallet until August — where theprice tag could tumble to around £710 and save you nearly £290.

Interested in investing in Samsung's more premium model in the series? The Galaxy S26 Ultra could offer the biggest rewards for patient buyers. Revealed with a price of £1,279, it could fall to roughly £1,050 shortly after launch, then plummet to approximately £717 by February next year – nearly half the original price.

The new flagship series has just been released with a slew of new features, some of which Samsung teased in its recent posts.

For instance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra was unveiled at the hotly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event with a new built-in privacy screen feature so wandering eyes can't see what you're doing. This is particularly notable because you'd need to otherwise purchase a separate privacy screen to stick onto other mobiles.

Samsung recently dropped a teaser showcasing the privacy screen in action.

These handsets have also landed with a speedy Exynos system-on-a-chip, twice as much storage in the entry-level model, and a flurry of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. The Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra boast the same screen size as their predecessors – 6.7" and 6.9", respectively – but the Galaxy S26 enjoys a modest increase from 6.2" to 6.3".

While the experts at Idealo do reveal that waiting to get a hold of the new Galaxy Series could be fruitful, getting ahead of the game and pre-ordering a new device for yourself could also yield some pretty big savings.

Samsung has said on its website that if you pre-order the 512GB model, then you could get it for the same cost as the handset with 256GB of storage — saving you £170.

You could also be treated to a sizable discount if you trade in your old phone at the Samsung store.
