Three new channels are coming to Freeview this month, but you might have to retune your TV to unlock them

Some channel numbers have changed, while other channels have rebranded in the latest shake-up

If you watch Freeview at home, three new channels will be landing in your TV Guide free of charge in the latest refresh to the popular service. First up, ITV Quiz started to roll out nationwide earlier this month.

It replaces ITVBe, the free-to-air channel that focused entirely on reality and lifestyle shows. Launched in October 2014, the channel was replaced in TV Guides on Freeview, Freely, Virgin TV, and Sky by ITV Quiz from June 9, 2025 onwards.

Elsewhere, Freeview users will be able to tune into OUTflix Proud, which has become the first dedicated LGBTQ+ channel on the service, and Must Have Ideas, a brand-new shopping channel.

These additions mark Freeview's most significant refresh in months.

Not all of these channels will be available on every Freeview set-top box or Smart TV. For example, OUTflix Proud is streamed via broadband, not broadcast via an aerial, so you'll need to connect your Freeview device to the internet to unlock this addition to the TV Guide.

If the new channels aren't appearing on your screen, there's a chance you'll need to retune or rescan. When a new service launches or a change has taken place, your Freeview might need to perform a quick scan to adjust its TV Guide.

ITV PRESS OFFICE

Some Freeview-powered TVs and set-top boxes will prompt you to do this. If so, all you'll need to do is press OK or Retune to kickstart the process and make sure all of your channel numbers and TV listings are in order.

If you don't receive a prompt, these are the steps you'll need to take:

  1. Press the menu on your box or TV remote control
  2. Select set up, installation, update, or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is 1234 or 0000.
  3. Select first-time installation (sometimes called factory reset, full retune or default settings).
  4. Press OK if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels, then your retune should start.
  5. If prompted, save the channels that are found.
You can find more details on the Freeview website.

As the name suggests, ITV Quiz (channel 28) will broadcast back-to-back quiz shows from 9am to 1am daily, featuring beloved ITV formats like Tipping Point, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Lingo, Tenable, Deal or No Deal, and Wheel of Fortune.

You'll see familiar faces like Jeremy Clarkson, Stephen Mulhern, and Warwick Davies on hosting duties throughout the day. While the trivia-packed channel offers HD quality on Sky (131), Virgin Media (119), Freesat (119), and YouView (28), you'll only receive standard definition on Freeview.

As highlighted above, OUTflix Proud (channel 288) requires a Smart TV or set-top box with an internet connection — either an ethernet cable or Wi-Fi network — since this is a hybrid channel that's not broadcast via an aerial. Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv — the firm behind the channels, called its introduction "a major step forward in our mission to make LGBTQ+ stories more accessible to viewers around the world."

The channel will broadcast LGBTQ+ original series, reality shows, documentaries, and films.

Meanwhile, Must Have Ideas is a new shopping channel coming to Freeview channel 96 on Freeview. It describes itself as "a brand new shopping experience," promising "unique, must-have finds to make your everyday life a little easier" but other than that, very little is known about the new channel.

It's rumoured to begin broadcasting live content on July 1. If you navigate to the channel now, you'll find a placeholder image with the channel logo and tagline, "Discover something new!"

And that's not the only shake-up taking place on Freeview this week, with several channels relocating too. Rewind TV, which moved to Channel 92 earlier this year, has shifted again to Channel 81. Blaze+1, previously on Channel 81, has taken Rewind TV's former Channel 92 slot. That's Pride has reverted to its original name, That's Dance, remaining on Channel 76.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Similarly, That's Pride Manchester has changed back to That's Dance Manchester on Channel 79. You'll need to retune to ensure these channel movements update correctly on your device.
