The latest price cuts will end at midnight tonight

Are you taking advantage of the fast-charging capabilities built into your iPhone? If not, it's never been cheaper to upgrade your plug and supercharge your speeds.

You might not realise, but every iPhone released since the iPhone 8 debuted back in September 2017 has included support for fast charging speeds. With the correct cable and plug combo, iPhone owners can refill 50% of the battery inside their handset in roughly 30 minutes.

If you're in a rush — and in the red on battery life — this little-known feature can be a lifesaver.

20W USB-C Power Adapter
$19 $15

Beginning with the launch of the iPhone 12 lineup five years ago, Apple ditched the plug from the box of every iPhone sold. The Californian company stated the decision was made to reduce e-waste, since most smartphone owners were upgrading from an earlier model and likely already owned at least one USB power adapter. The change also allowed the firm to shrink the overall size of the box, reducing carbon emissions.

With no charger in the box, it might be unclear what the best power adapter would be. If you want to take advantage of the fastest possible wired charging speeds for your iPhone, this is what you'll need...

  • iPhone 15 or newer: Following a shake-up to the charging port to comply with EU regulation, you'll need a USB-C charging cable, plugged into a power adapter that's certified USB-C Power Delivery (USB-PD)
  • iPhone 8 to iPhone 14: You'll need a charging cable with a Lightning connector at one end and a USB-C at the other. Apple Support lists 18W or greater as the minimum for some older devices, though many newer models are tested with 20W or higher adapters. USB-PD chargers that meet the spec will work too

Quick tip: the adapter’s wattage is printed on the brick — check the top/bottom of the adapter if you’re unsure. If you need to kit yourself out, there are several popular plugs on sale on Amazon's site-wide sale.

The price cuts to power adapters are a small portion of the thousands of blockbuster deals included in the Prime Day sale. Amazon has two major sales each year, Amazon Prime Day (July 8-11) and Prime Big Deal Days (October 7-8).

If you're thinking of buying new gadgets, fashion items, household essentials, and Amazon devices like Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle — this is the opportunity.

The event also includes early access offers, lightning deals, and personalised recommendations, making it one of the most anticipated online sales of the year for shoppers worldwide. If you're looking to take advantage of all the deals, we've rounded up everything you need to do to prepare for the best offers and shop stress-free.

To access all the savings on Amazon, though, you must have an Amazon Prime subscription. Prime membership in the UK costs £8.99 per month or £95 per year.

Students and young adults (18-22) can become a member for half the price (£4.49 per month or £47.49 per year), plus six months for free.

Beyond the deals, though, there are several benefits you can take advantage of as a Prime member. You can get fast, free two-day delivery on millions of items. In some parts of the UK, you can even get next-day or same-day delivery on select items. Plus, there are several other benefits you can take advantage of from having a membership any time during the year.

You'll get access to Prime Video to watch shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Girlfriend, Fleabag, and more. However, if you're not sure a subscription to Amazon Prime is worth it, the US retailer offers a 30-day free trial where you can take advantage of all the benefits for free.

You will also have access to Rufus, which is your AI shopping companion on Amazon. If you have any questions or need real-time shopping-related advice, Rufus can answer specific shopping questions based on listing details, customer reviews and community Q&As.

For example, Rufus can answer questions such as, "Will this phone case fit the all-new iPhone 17 Pro?" or, "What are the best options for espresso machines?"

In some instances, Amazon offers a 20% off Trade-In program on new tech products like the all-new Kindle Colorsoft e-reader or Amazon Echo smart speakers.

This will unlock even more savings on an already discounted product.

If you're looking to dip into even more savings, follow these steps to trade in your older device:

  1. Choose an eligible Kindle associated with your Amazon account or search for other device(s), even if bought elsewhere
  2. Answer a few questions about the condition of your device(s) to receive a trade-in quote. Even non-working devices are eligible
  3. Print a shipping label and send your device(s) for free — Amazon will verify the condition within 3 days after receipt
  4. Once your trade-in is complete, an Amazon gift card equal to the appraised value of your old device(s), plus the 20% discount towards any new qualifying product, will be automatically applied to your account
