You can also rollover unused 5G data

No mobile data left? If you've got an EE SIM card tucked inside your phone, the brand will gift you with 1GB of data to ensure you can keep sending WhatsApp messages, make and receive video calls, and stream your favourite songs.

Dubbed Data Parachute, the one-of-a-kind feature is available to anyone on EE's Pay As You Go plans, which have been refreshed from top to bottom in a dramatic shake-up for the BT-owned brand.

EE offers data rollover as part of its Pay As You Go plans, so any unused 5G data remaining at the end of the month carries over to the following one. If you spend most of your time connected to Wi-Fi, especially during intensive tasks like streaming video, downloading playlists, or making video calls, then it's easy to finish the month with plenty of 5G data, so you can make do with a smaller allowance. Pay As You Go plans start from £10 per month.

Switch to EE's new SIM-only plan, and enjoy emergency 1GB Data Parachute

With its rebooted Pay As You Go SIM plans, EE is offering data rollover to keep an unused 5G data available to use next month, perks each time you top-up twice in a row, and a 1GB "Data Parachute" to ensure you stay connected to EE's award-winning 5G network and can continue sending WhatsApp messages, FaceTime calls, and Google Maps even after you've burnt through your allowance

Each time you top up twice, EE will reward you with additional data – with a maximum of six boosts. The entry-level EE Pay As You Go SIM costs £10 per month and comes with 10GB of 5G data, 500 minutes for calls to mobile numbers and landlines, unlimited texts, and the 1GB Data Parachute.

Spend £15 per month, and you'll be treated to unlimited minutes and text messages, as well as 75GB of 5G data. The most expensive Pay As You Go plan from the refreshed lineup costs £35 and boasts unlimited 5G data, unlimited calls and text messages. All Pay As You Go plans are limited to a maximum 25Mbps download speed.

EE has won multiple awards for its 5G network, which was recently upgraded to faster speeds for some 500,000 users across the UK. Dubbed 5G+, this improved service — that strips out all 4G infrastructure from the 5G network to improve reliability, speed, and even the battery life of your device — is available on all EE pay monthly handset plans, as well as its Full Works and All Rounder SIM-only plans.

With more than 15% of all EE pay monthly customers now accessing 5G+, millions of people in the UK are now benefiting every day from the enhanced network performance it offers. EE’s long-term plan will see 99% of the UK population get 5G+ connectivity by Spring 2030.

EE isn't the only network that's upgraded its infrastructure to support faster speeds. Vodafone has launched 5G Ultra, which uses the same standalone technology to offer improved stability indoors, better battery life on devices connected to its network, lower latency and better signal in crowded areas, like packed stadiums.

It's included on most newer pay-monthly plans and many SIM-only plans. With Vodafone and Three now merged, those on the latter can expect to benefit from those same improvements to the masts nationwide, too.

For its part, Virgin Media O2 customers can also access 5G Standalone, thanks to a series of upgrades to the O2 network. The network claims to have the largest standalone rollout geographically.

EE’s mobile network has received the gong for the UK's best overall network by RootMetrics every year since 2014, as well as being named Best Network for Consumers at the Mobile Industry Awards for the last four years since 2022. EE remains the only mobile provider to answer 100% of customer calls in the UK and Ireland.
