Amazon has unveiled its newest wireless security camera, supercharged with the latest features to protect your outdoor spaces.
Dubbed the Blink Outdoor 2K+, you can now monitor your gardens, back gates, pets, and more with ease in crisp 2K resolution. This is an expansion of the brand's existing 2K line, which currently consists of the Mini 2K+ plug-in indoor camera, ideal for monitoring a specific room in your home.
If you’ve never shopped for Blink products before, it’s a smart home security brand offering a range of indoor and outdoor security cameras and video doorbells.
Blink was acquired by Amazon in 2017 and is positioned as Amazon’s more affordable home security line, especially when compared to more premium brands like Ring, which is also owned by Amazon.
Here's everything you need to know about this handy home security device.

You can capture crisp colour footage outdoors at any time of the day
| BLINK PRESS OFFICEThe camera records video in crisp 2K resolution (2560 × 1440), delivering sharp detail and enhanced colour accuracy so you can. It also features a 4× zoom function so you can get an up close look at a package getting delivered on your doorstep or to monitor your pet in the backyard.
At night-time or in other lowlight conditions, the device captures colour footage using ambient light before automatically switching to infrared black-and-white, ensuring you don't miss a thing, no matter the time of day.
Plus, its audio features include two-way communication with built-in noise cancellation, designed to produce clear and natural sound. This is a great perk if you need to speak with a delivery driver dropping off a package while you're away.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
If you already use Amazon Alexa-enabled devices, you can connect the doorbell for hands-free monitoring and real-time notifications. That means you can stay informed without constantly checking your phone. Just keep in mind—a Blink subscription is required to receive these alerts.
There are also two Blink subscriptions to choose from:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Devices Covered | Cloud Storage | Live-View Recording | Person Detection | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | £2.50 | ~£25 | 1 device | 30 days | Yes (limited) | Yes (device‑specific) | — |
| Plus | £8 | ~£80 | Unlimited | 30 days | Yes | Yes | Amazon 10% discount, extended warranty |
While the Basic subscription is only £25 annually, it covers only one device. You can add unlimited devices to the Plus plan and get 10% off on future Blink purchases and an extended warranty.
The basic plan is cheaper in comparison with Ring's subscription, which charges £49.99 annually for the basic plan. Both plus subscription plans, however, are £80 annually.

Ring is positioned to have premium offerings and a higher price point, whereas Blink is a more affordable option in comparison
| RING PRESS OFFICERing was originally founded in Santa Monica, California, in 2013 and was later acquired by Amazon in 2018. Similar to Blink, it's best known for creating its popular video doorbells and security cameras to prevent crime.
While both Ring and Blink are owned by Amazon and could be considered siblings, Ring is positioned to have premium offerings and a higher price point, whereas Blink is a more affordable option in comparison.
Prices have also been slashed on a few other Blink security devices, so now may be a good time to stock up on a few items:
