You could qualify for 20% off the new model

The cheapest Kindle Scribe launches in the UK today.

Meet the Kindle Scribe without a front light. It arrives with all the features you'd typically find in the Scribe lineup, like note-taking capabilities, the ability to import documents, and access to thousands of e-books at your fingertips.

However, like its name, it doesn't come with the extra glow on your screen. By removing the internal lighting layer, the gap between the screen and the digital ink is significantly reduced. It's designed to make writing feel closer to the surface, mimicking the tactile feel of an actual notebook.

This new model arrives after Amazon released a redesign of its standard Kindle Scribe and the all-new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft earlier this year.

Releasing at £389.99, it undercuts the other two models by at least £60 — the standard Scribe starts at £449.99, and the Scribe Colorsoft starts at £569.99.

Plus, if you have an old Kindle lying around, you can box it up, send it back to Amazon's warehouse, and you can snag 20% off.

Be one of the first to buy the Kindle Scribe without a front light in the UK from Amazon

The Kindle Scribe without a front light combines an 11-inch glare-free display, built-in notebook, and AI-powered tools to create a seamless reading and writing experience. Its paper-like textured screen and responsive Premium Pen are designed to make note-taking feel natural. You can easily import and annotate documents, organize ideas with AI search, and enjoy weeks of battery life in a thin, lightweight design.

If you have an old Kindle, you can also pack it up and send it back to the warehouse to receive 20% off.

The new Scribe has been completely redesigned with productivity at its core, just like the newest-generation Kindle Scribe with the front light.

As you'd expect from a Kindle, battery life is measured in weeks, not hours, and there aren't any distracting apps or notifications to pull you away from your thoughts.

Writing and page-turning speeds improved by 40%, so you can use the e-reader with little to no delays. The models also incorporate a quad-core processor for better performance and increased memory capacity.

It comes packed with a slew of AI-powered features to make it easier to search through your notes, organise your documents into folders, and back up everything to the cloud.

For productivity enthusiasts, you may find the AI-powered notebook search particularly useful. This feature enables you to locate information across multiple notebooks by asking simple questions, with the system providing concise AI-generated summaries.

As an example, you can ask questions about a book you're reading, and it will provide spoiler-free answers.

You can also connect your device to Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, simplifying document imports for annotation. The ability to export marked-up PDFs adds further versatility to your workflow.

Like the other Kindle e-readers, you can expect no distracting applications or notifications, allowing complete focus on your writing and creative tasks. The new models are much lighter, too, weighing just 400g, compared to the 433g for the Kindle Scribe first revealed during the same hardware event from Amazon last year.

If you have an existing Amazon Kindle and are looking to upgrade for a deal, Amazon offers 20% off a new model when you trade in your old device. To take part, follow these five steps:

  1. Check that you're eligible by visiting the Amazon Trade-In Store and search for your Kindle model. You can also navigate to the product page of your Kindle and look for the "Trade In" option.
  2. Answer a series of questions about your Kindle's condition to receive an estimated trade-in value.
  3. When you accept the offer, confirm your trade-in and follow the instructions to print a prepaid shipping label.
  4. Ship Your Kindle by using the provided label.
  5. Once Amazon receives and appraises your device, you will receive the trade-in value as an Amazon gift card.
