The latter years of Federer’s career were marred with injuries, but the Swiss star was able to sign off the way he wanted to, with the 44-year-old concluding his competitive playing at the tournament he co-founded, the Laver Cup.
Djokovic, Federer, Murray, and Rafael Nadal dominated a golden era of tennis, which saw almost all titles and Grand Slams taken by one of the four stars.

At the French Open earlier this year, Nadal was honoured for all of his achievements on the clay courts, bringing back the four stars to celebrate his achievements.
At the event, the Swiss star had kind words for his rival: "Farewells are important when you have his level, and he's a giant of the game. If we can add a little something by being here with Novak and Andy, and we tie the knot all together, I think it's a nice thing.
