Red Bull has had a difficult 2025 season

Pierre Gasly has revealed that he ‘knows some stuff that can’t be said’ about the difficulties working with Red Bull.

Both Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda have struggled to get to grips with the Red Bull car this season.

Lawson was dropped after just two races earlier in the season, and Tsunoda is languishing in 18th place in the championship, having scored only 10 points this season.

Former Red Bull driver, Pierre Gasly, believes there is more to Tsunoda’s struggles then meets the eye, saying: "What's tricky is my time, a lot of things can't be said, because you're a driver, you're working for a team, and as a professional, you can't share all the information on the specific situations.

"Talking with Yuki, I know some stuff that can't be said, and it's not easy. It's not easy to be in this situation.

"You try to do what's best for the team, and sometimes you get given something to make it work, and sometimes you're in a situation where, for different reasons, it can't quite work the way you like.

"So, knowing from experience, I just try to chat as a friend and just advise on stuff that may help him. And I think ultimately, it's up to him and the team to make it work and do the right things for it to work."

Tsunoda’s struggles have raised concerns of another mid-season driver swap from Red Bull, who have been known for their ruthless approach to driver changes.

Pierre Gasly himself was cut mid-season in 2019, as he was replaced by Alex Albon during the summer break after a difficult opening half of the season.

Red Bull have slipped to fourth in the constructors' championship, with reigning world champion Max Verstappen seemingly the only driver on the grid who can tame the difficult-to-drive RB21.

The Dutchman has pulled out some masterful performances to gain wins this season but even he has struggled to get to grips with his Red Bull.

Laurent Mekies, the new team principal after Christian Horner was removed mid-season, has revealed that Tsunoda will retain the support of the Milton Keynes factory.

He told the media in Hungary earlier this month: "The priority is to give Yuki what he needs to perform.

"That is where, with regards to the second seat, that is where the priority is. It is what the team is concentrated on.

"They have been trying that for a number of races now.

"We are trying to find ways together to make a further step. You know, Spa was very positive, certainly from that perspective.

"Here it is a bit of a tricky weekend overall, so it is probably a bit more difficult to judge.

"But there is no reason why Yuki's performance cannot be what we have seen in the past."

Tsunoda will be happy to have made it to the summer break with his seat in the first team, but will be spending the time away from the track as he hopes to find new ways to gain performance from his RB21.
