His intervention has attracted significant attention, with his post garnering 80 million views.

The 33-year-old striker's challenge highlights UEFA's omission of details about Al-Obeid's death in their commemorative message, which simply described him as the "Palestinian Pele" who provided hope to children during difficult times.

UEFA's Friday social media post paid tribute to Al-Obeid, referring to him as a talent who inspired countless youngsters during challenging periods.

However, the governing body's message drew criticism for neglecting to state that the 41-year-old footballer had been killed by Israeli forces.

According to the Palestine Football Association, Al-Obeid died when Israeli military personnel fired upon civilians queuing for humanitarian assistance in southern Gaza on Wednesday.

The PFA reported that his death brought the total number of footballers killed in the Gaza conflict to 421, including 103 children.

UEFA's post attracted over 9,000 responses and exceeded 26 million views, with many criticising the organisation's selective presentation of information.

Former England striker Gary Lineker amplified Salah's message by sharing it on his Instagram story on Saturday, subsequently posting: "We can't hear you Uefa".

The ex-Match of the Day presenter, who departed the BBC following controversy over his Gaza-related comments, joined the growing chorus of criticism.

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn also endorsed Salah's stance, responding to the Liverpool player's post with: "Well said Mo!"

Al-Obeid, who scored over 100 goals during his career, represented Palestine in 24 international matches and played for both Khadamat Al-Shati in Gaza and Al-Amari Youth Center Club in the West Bank. The midfielder leaves behind a wife and five children.
