Now, Anisimova has revealed details of her chat with Princess Kate - revealing the royal told her to 'keep her head high'.

"It was such an honour to meet her," said the Wimbledon finalist. "I wasn’t sure if she was gonna come out today. It was really nice to see her.

"I don’t want to reveal everything she said to me, but I also spoke to her again after the match because I passed by her.

"She had all the best to say to me. So it was a positive of today, and I can try and focus on that and not the match."

Anisimova also admitted that the defeat was 'tough to digest', having won just 14 points during the one-sided contest.

"It was a bit tough to digest, obviously, especially during and right after," she added. "It’s not how I would have wanted my first Grand Slam final to go.

"I think I was a bit in shock after as well. But I told myself I’ll definitely come out stronger after this.

"Obviously, there are a lot of things I need to do to progress."

Swiatek, meanwhile, was delighted after winning Wimbledon and thanked her team for all their hard work behind the scenes.
