The crash occurred during the approach to Goddards Corner, resulting in immediate medical intervention and the race being stopped with red flags.

The accident unfolded when Grigor lost control of his motorcycle whilst navigating the approach to the circuit's final corner.

His machine subsequently struck fellow competitor Nathan Harrison, causing both riders to fall.

Harrison, a 27-year-old from the Isle of Man, sustained what medical personnel described as an isolated limb injury. Emergency crews attended to both men immediately on the circuit.

Race officials halted the competition instantly, deploying red flags to stop all remaining participants.

The British Superbike medical team provided urgent trackside care to both fallen riders before arranging their transport to hospital for specialist treatment.

British Superbike organisers released an official statement detailing the severity of the situation.

"Callum Grigor was found to be in a serious condition and required immediate trackside intervention, including being placed into an induced coma," the statement confirmed.

The organisation explained that both competitors were transported to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, a specialist major trauma facility, for comprehensive assessment and ongoing treatment.

"Nathan Harrison was treated at the medical centre for an isolated limb injury," the statement added.

Officials indicated that additional updates would be released as they become available. Supporters have expressed their concern on social media platforms, offering messages of support for both injured riders.

Grigor's racing career has included significant challenges, notably a severe hand injury sustained at East Fortune in 2019.

During that incident, his hand became trapped beneath his motorcycle, resulting in damage to the bone that required reconstructive surgery.

The racer, who holds a BSc degree in sports coaching from the University of the West of Scotland, spoke about his recovery in 2021.

"The resilience of coming back from an injury is one of the hardest things as a motorcycle racer," he told the Daily Record.

He acknowledged that regaining confidence in himself and his machine proved particularly challenging following the accident.
