Ryder Cup organisers have been forced to alter their timetable, with the opening ceremony now taking place a full day earlier than planned.
The curtain-raiser for the 45th edition of the famous tournament was originally scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 4pm.
But with forecasters warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms, officials opted on Tuesday to bring the event forward to Wednesday instead.
A statement from tournament bosses confirmed: “Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Thursday, September 25, the 2025 Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony has been moved to Wednesday, September 24.

The pre-show begins at 3pm with the main ceremony following at 4pm. Ryder Cup+ ticket holders for Thursday will now have entry on both Wednesday and Thursday.”
Traditionally, the two team captains announce their Friday morning foursomes line-ups during the opening ceremony. This time, however, Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald will stick to the original plan and reveal their selections at 4pm on Thursday.
Donald will hope to emulate Europe’s blistering start in Rome two years ago, when his side swept the opening session 4-0 before marching to a 16½–11½ victory.
Bradley, though, can draw confidence from the USA’s strong record in recent opening foursomes, having dominated 3-1 at Whistling Straits in 2021 and 4-0 at Hazeltine in 2016.
