The US golf superstar has admitted Donald Trump's Ryder Cup appearance will be a big boost

The American president is set to appear at Bethpage Black this Friday for the Ryder Cup, completing a trio of sporting attendances in New York this week.

His presence at the prestigious golf tournament follows his appearance at the men's tennis final at the U.S. Open on 7 September.

The president also attended a Yankees match against Detroit on 11 September, commemorating the anniversary of the terror attacks.

The tournament represents the inaugural Ryder Cup held in the New York metropolitan region, where America's finest golfers will compete against their European counterparts at what's known as the People's Country Club.

World number one Scottie Scheffler expressed enthusiasm about the presidential attendance during Tuesday's press conference at Bethpage.

"To have the president here, it's been a tough few weeks for our country with some of the stuff that's been going on, and to have our president here and for us to represent the United States of America, albeit being in a golf tournament, is extremely important for us," Scheffler stated.

The golfer disclosed that Trump maintains regular communication following tournament successes.

"I get a call or a text from him sometimes after wins. He just loves the game of golf," Scheffler revealed, describing the president as someone who "treats people with the utmost respect."

Team USA captain Keegan Bradley conveyed profound appreciation for the presidential support.

"I'm deeply honored that the President of the United States is going to come support our team at the Ryder Cup," Bradley remarked, describing the opportunity to have a sitting president present whilst representing America at Bethpage Black as "absolutely incredible."

Bradley revealed Trump's intention to be present at the opening tee.

"I really look forward to what that first tee is going to be like with the president on the tee," he said, predicting the moment would be "a sporting event to remember across any sport" that "everyone will remember forever."
