The NFL legend is ready for English sports

Birmingham City shareholder Tom Brady has set his sights on Wrexham as their target for this season, as both teams aim for Championship glory.

Brady won seven Super Bowls in his time in the NFL, six with the New England Patriots and his final ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He became a minority shareholder in Birmingham in 2023, and his team will now battle Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham side as they look to secure Premier League promotion.

Brady has now revealed that he is focusing on Wrexham and must follow them in the transfer window to keep bringing in good talent.

Brady, speaking to The Sports Agents, said: “We’ve got to [keep spending]. We’ve got to keep up with one another, Wrexham have, I'd say, done an incredible job. I mean, you can't be anything but excited about what they've done for that club… I'm so impressed by Wrexham. What they do on the pitch, off the pitch, and again, they're in a great position to succeed as well.”

Brady disclosed that he has been involved with some of the transfers for the Blues this season

“Well, at different times, I'm definitely involved in player procurement, and we're always in search of trying to figure out ways to upgrade the team,” he added.

Wrexham have smashed their own club record transfer fee multiple times during the transfer window as they try to have a fourth successive promotion.

The Blues, on the other hand, have had a different fate over the last few years. The team was relegated to League One after a disappointing spell under Wayne Rooney, but bounced back to set an EFL record of 111 points to promote themselves back to the Championship.

Brady joked he is looking forward to getting to interact with the Hollywood stars, saying: “We're going to talk a lot of smack in the meantime between all of us, because it's pretty fun theatre, and I think there's some little friendly side bets going on.

“But make no mistake, the people who are going to decide to fate of those games are the players wearing those jerseys."

Brady also made the stunning claim that he would be interested in looking at bringing the Super Bowl to Birmingham, and that his business partner would be a good person to facilitate it.

He continued: “That would be pretty amazing! I don’t make all those decisions. I’m not sure how much I can influence those decisions,”

“But I think that my partner, Tom Wagner, is an incredible man, incredible businessman. He has huge ambitions for the club, and I would never bet against anything that he tries to accomplish."

Birmingham’s first game of the Championship season will be against Ipswich on August 8.
