Alejandro Garnacho's time at Old Trafford appears to be over

Alejandro Garnacho's Manchester United career appears to be over after his partner seemingly confirmed his departure with a cryptic social media post.

The 20-year-old Argentine winger is set to leave Old Trafford this summer after being told he can leave by manager Ruben Amorim.

Eva Garcia, Garnacho's partner, has added fuel to the fire ahead of United's final match of the season against Aston Villa by posting a picture of a baby-sized United kit with the words "last match" on Instagram.

Amorim reportedly informed Garnacho of his decision to cut him loose during a meeting at the club's Carrington training base on Saturday, though United have declined to comment on the matter.

Garcia's emotional Instagram post featured a tearful emoji and a heart alongside the "last match" caption, strongly suggesting the family is preparing for departure.

It remains unclear whether Garnacho will feature in the squad for Sunday's final game against Aston Villa or join United's post-season tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The winger was visibly unhappy after being left on the bench for more than 70 minutes during United's Europa League final defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday night.

"Obviously it's hard for everyone," Garnacho said at the San Mames. "Our season was s***. We didn't beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don't score goals, you always need more."

He added: "Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next."

Garnacho's relationship with Amorim has been strained throughout the season, despite the young Argentine forcing his way back into the side after being dropped for the Manchester derby in December.

That exclusion came as punishment for showing dissent towards the head coach during a Europa League match in Plzen three days earlier.

United rejected a January bid from Napoli for the winger, but the club's stance has now changed dramatically following the latest developments.

The Red Devils are now prepared to listen to offers in the region of £60-70 million for Garnacho, a significant development after rejecting Napoli's January approach.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

A sale would represent pure profit under financial fair play rules, as the winger came through the club's academy system. This financial windfall could provide Amorim with additional transfer funds as he looks to reshape the squad following a disappointing season that saw United miss out on Champions League qualification.

Garnacho's brother Roberto has also publicly criticised Amorim's decision to bench the winger.

Following the Europa League final defeat, Roberto took to Instagram, writing: "Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus. [Wow] hahahahahaha."

When asked about the futures of Garnacho and captain Bruno Fernandes ahead of the Villa game, Amorim remained non-committal.

"I will speak with my players but the focus is the last game. I don't know what is going to happen," he said. "We have a plan. We were prepared for both situations, with Champions League and without.

'We have an idea type of squad we want, but we still have the last game. We have time to address all these situations."
