Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will offer an on-pitch apology to fans after Sunday's final Premier League game against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese manager plans to address supporters during the traditional post-match lap of appreciation despite the club's disastrous season.
"It will be an apology, I think that's clear, I don't have time for an explanation," said Amorim. "I will be honest with the fans and say what is in my mind and especially my heart."
The 40-year-old former Sporting boss insists maintaining the tradition is essential, particularly after such a disappointing campaign.

United's tortuous campaign will conclude against Unai Emery's Champions League qualification hopefuls, capping what has been their worst domestic season since the 1973-74 relegation campaign.
The Old Trafford side's hopes of qualifying for Europe's premier competition ended with their Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in Bilbao.
This disappointment compounds the misery of a season that will see United without European football next season for only the second time since 1990.

The club's struggles have created a tense atmosphere at Old Trafford, with fans increasingly vocal about their dissatisfaction with performances on the pitch.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Amorim believes it would be "the biggest mistake" to abandon the traditional lap of appreciation.

"It's tradition and we have to face it," he added. "I know that the manager addresses the public and I will do that, it's the least I can do."
The Portuguese coach has not finalised exactly what he will say to supporters but emphasised the importance of the gesture.
"I have an idea what I want to say but I will decide tomorrow. If ever there was a season that we need to do it, it's this one," Amorim explained, acknowledging the need to directly address fans after such a disappointing campaign.
