Fans could be getting closer to finding out the star's next club

Kevin De Bruyne is set to leave Manchester City this summer after a decade at the Etihad - and his wife has seemingly dropped a clue as to where he could be heading next.

De Bruyne called his imminent departure a 'business' decision, and he still feels he has a lot to offer at the top level of the game.

Speculation is now mounting about where the 33-year-old will continue his career, with several potential destinations emerging.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Napoli had made a move for the Belgian international, with the club's sporting director Giovanni Manna in Manchester over the last few weeks for talks with the player.

Now, Belgian outlet HLN is reporting that De Bruyne's wife, Michel Lacroix, has been spotted in Naples. She is believed to be house-hunting in the city, which has fuelled speculation about the midfielder's potential move to the Serie A club.

Napoli are currently three points clear at the summit of Serie A, managed by former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, and could present an interesting opportunity for De Bruyne.

The Belgian has already stated: "I have to look at the whole picture. I'm looking at sporting reasons, family and everything together and what makes the most sense for me and my family."

The De Bruynes already have a sentimental connection to the Naples area, with the couple being married in Sorrento, a picturesque peninsula town located along the Gulf of Naples coast.

Another factor potentially drawing De Bruyne to Naples is his close friendship with Romelu Lukaku, who currently plays for Napoli.

The two Belgian internationals have a long history together, having briefly lived together at Chelsea, as well as racking up a combined 231 international appearances.

They are also represented by the same agency, Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports.

Napoli reportedly hope this friendship could help persuade De Bruyne to join the Italian club, with former Belgian international Dries Mertens also providing a connection to Naples for the veteran.

Mertens is set to become an honorary citizen of Napoli next month after spending nine years at the club, and he still maintains a residence on the coast with his partner Kat Kerkhofs.

The pair also attended De Bruyne's wedding in 2017, and these existing ties to the region could make a potential move to Napoli more appealing for the Belgian star and his family.

While Napoli appears to be a strong contender, De Bruyne has been linked with several other destinations.
