Kai and Ivanka Trump - the President's granddaughter and eldest daughter - have both released messages

Vanessa Trump has revealed she is battling breast cancer.

The mother-of-five shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, disclosing she had undergone a medical procedure earlier this week.

"I want to share a personal health update. I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn't news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan," she said.

Vanessa, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr, also thanked her doctors and said she remained hopeful.

"I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids and those closest to me."

Her eldest daughter Kai, 19, posted a photograph of herself alongside her mother online, captioned: "Strongest person I know. Love you."

Ivanka Trump, Donald's eldest daughter, was first among the family to offer public support to her former sister-in-law.

"Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama," she commented on Vanessa's post.

Vanessa, who is currently in a relationship with golf star Tiger Woods, received an outpouring of well-wishes following her announcement.

Woods, a 15-time major winner, recently completed an intensive rehabilitation programme in Zurich - though left early to attend Kai's graduation ceremony.

The golfer was arrested on March 27 after a car crash near his Jupiter, Florida home and charged with driving under the influence.

Police are said to have discovered prescription opioid painkillers in his possession during the arrest, which he had been using for chronic injury pain.

Woods has entered a not guilty plea to the DUI charge.

Despite his legal wrangles, a source told People magazine the couple remain devoted to one another.

"Vanessa and Tiger are in love, still serious, and happy to see each other," the insider said.

The source also revealed Woods approached his rehabilitation seriously and is focused on moving forward.

"He is in good spirits and also can't wait to put the legal issues to rest," they said.

Vanessa shares five children with the President's eldest son: Kai, 19; Donald, 17; Tristan, 14; Spencer, 13; and Chloe, 11.

The pair wed at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach in 2005 before separating in 2018.

Their divorce was described as amicable, with the former couple continuing to spend time together with their children.

Donald Trump Jr is set to marry socialite Bettina Anderson this weekend.

The President's eldest son, 48, and Anderson, 39, had pushed the date back to autumn amid fears a wedding during the height of the war in Iran might hand critics an easy shot at his father.

But with a peace breakthrough still yet to come, the couple chose to instead hold a smaller wedding for close family and friends over the Memorial Day weekend.
