Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp has admitted he could return to Anfield one day

Jurgen Klopp has admitted it is 'theoretically possible' that he returns to manage Liverpool again one day.

The German manager became a club legend at Anfield, where he won them their first Premier League title in 2020 - also their first league title in 30 years.

He also became one of four coaches to win the Champions League at Liverpool - doing so in 2019.

After nine years in charge of Liverpool, Klopp stood down as manager at the end of the 2023/24 season after revealing he was 'running out of energy'.

But when asked if could return to Anfield, the 58-year-old revealed: "I said I will never coach a different team in England so that means, if [I did return], then it's Liverpool.

"So, yeah, theoretically it is possible."

His comments come at a precaurious time for current boss Arne Slot, who has come under immense in recent weeks despite winning the Premier League last season.

A dismal 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday extended their losing streak to four - their worst run in over a decade - with losses to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Galatasaray included.

Summer signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, who joined for combined fees of £240million, have failed to gel so far and Liverpool's tactics have been criticised by fans and pundits throughout.

There have even been rumblings among Liverpool fans that Slot's time at the club could be up, though it is unlikely the Reds hierarchy would axe the Dutchman any time soon.

Nevertheless, Klopp's comments might spark some excitement among Liverpool supporters, though he did go on to admit he has not missed coaching after becoming Red Bull's global head of soccer in January.

When asked what would it take to urge him to return to Liverpool, Klopp said: "I don't even know exactly. I love what I do now. I don't miss coaching. I don't. I do coach but it's just different, it's not players.

"I don't miss it. I don't miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours. I also don't miss going to press conferences three times a week.

"Having 10 or 12 interviews a week, I don't miss that. I don't. I don't miss being in the dressing room. I coached around 1,080 games so I was in the dressing room very, very often.

Liverpool's run of form has left many shocked after four defeats in a row, following the 2-1 defeat to United on Sunday.

Having won five in a row at the start of the season, it looked like the Reds were the favourites to reclaim their title.

But they now sit four points behind league leaders Arsenal, who have conceded just three times this season.

While alarm bells might be ringing, it is certainly not the time to lose their heads with plenty of the season to play.

In a strange season where there might not be any clear favourite in the Premier League, every title challenger will more than likely experience a dip in form.

Nevertheless, Slot is fast losing his credit in the bank and there are big problems popping up all over the pitch.

His defence is shaky, his summer signings have not been effective and Mohamed Salah's form has fallen off a cliff.

The international break gave Slot ample time to put out some of these fires but he has failed to do so.

What follows now is a key period in Liverpool's season.
