The West Ham manager’s job hangs in the balance

Graham Potter has revealed “we’re all in pain” after Jarrod Bowen was seen confronting fans after the 3-2 loss to Wolves in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

The loss means that West Ham have now lost their last three games, conceding 11 goals in that time.

The Hammers had led into the 80th minute of the match, but two late goals from Jorgen Strand Larsen ended any hopes of a quick turnaround for Potter.

"The team's suffering at the moment, we all are, we're all hurting. I can assure you no-one's happy.”

After the final whistle, Bowen was seen applauding the away fans who had traveled for the match, but his mood quickly switched after a critical comment was aimed in his direction. He had to be held back from getting into a tussle with the spectator.

Potter spoke on the incident after the game, “I have no idea what was said or anything. Our supporters have been fantastic, they are hurting because of the results we've had and Jarrod obviously cares about the club and the team. It's just an exchange of views by people who care.

"Everyone is hurting, rightly so because we haven't had the results we'd like. Jarrod has been a fantastic captain and servant for the club."

West Ham had come from behind to lead in the game. Wolves took the lead just before the end of the first half as Rodrigo Gomes fired the home team in front, before the visitors came fighting back.

Two goals in 13 minutes changed the game as Tomas Soucek levelled before Lucas Paqueta fired the struggling side in front.

Strand Larsen came on to compound the misery on Potter after what had seemed like a better showing from the Hammers.

Pressure is mounting on Potter as West Ham currently sit bottom of the Premier League table, with the 50-year-old only winning five of his 22 games with the Hammers since taking over from Julen Lopetegui in January.
