|Gary Neville tops the list when it comes to football's best-paid pundits
With the new season about to begin, pundits are set to take centre stage again.
Therefore, it's time to look at some of the best-paid football commenters out there.
Taking top spot is Gary Neville with an annual salary of £1.1million at Sky Sports.
Neville, a serial winner-turned-businessman, is busier than ever since hanging up his boots in 2011 and still manages to balance his punditry career on the side.
As one of the best right-backs in Premier League History, Neville has used his knowledge to work with ITV to provide coverage on the Euros 2024.
This Mancunian is also not shy to make occasional appearances for companies such as beIN Sports and is partial to throwing himself in with other jobs like overseeing The Overlap YouTube channel.

Next up, his partner in crime: Jamie Carragher, who is on £1m from working with Sky Sports and CBS sports.
Carragher has also developed his expertise from first hand experience, having enjoyed a brilliant career at the top of English football.
He won the Champions League with Liverpool in the 2004/05 campaign and claimed FA Cup glory the following season.
The Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer, Alan Shearer, comes in third with an annual salary of £440,000 at the BBC.
Shearer has been a regular for the broadcaster for over a two-decade period now and previously had a brief stint as Magpies manager in 2009.
After several failed attempts as a manager, Wayne Rooney has also turned his attention to punditry.

With Gary Lineker leaving Match of The Day, Rooney recently signed a major deal with the BBC to work as a pundit on the revamped version of the show.
The former Manchester United star is set to earn £400,000-a-year to provide analysis on Premier League games every week. As well as his duties on Match of the Day, he's also set to cover the 2026 World Cup.
Although not being a former athlete himself, Mark Chapman earns a whopping £325,000 for his work with the BBC as a presenter on both television and radio.
The 51-year-old is also a leading face for every avenue of rugby on the BBC. Chapman will co-present Match of the Day from the 2025/26 season onwards, though he currently earns four times less than Lineker did in that role.
According to Sportscasting, Gabby Logan takes home £210,000-a-year. She is not only renowned for her prominent roles in football, she is also a keen athletics supporter due to her history of being a gymnast herself.
Logan fronted the coverage of the 2024 Olympics Athletics and is also the face of the Champions League and Premier League for Amazon Prime. Along with Chapman and Kelly Cates, she will co-present MOTD from the 2025-26 season onwards.
Alex Scott followed in the footsteps of many former professionals by wandering into the world of punditry. Scott retired from her playing career in 2017 after playing for the likes of Birmingham City and Arsenal.
The ex-right-back is known for her fearless choices such as wearing a rainbow laces armband in the 2022 World Cup when her colleagues refused to.
Between 2023 and 2024 Scott is said to have earnt £205,000. As the primary host of Football Focus, Scott’s skillset allowed her to provide detailed analysis on previews of all the top football action and has also led her to occasionally host Match of the Day 2, FA Cup and the Women's Super League.
Micah Richards stands as one of the most memorable faces, and amusing figures, on sports television.
The former Manchester City defender, just 36 years of age, takes home £205,000 for his punditry work.
From featuring on Match of the Day to covering live football for the same broadcaster, Richards is also regularly seen on Sky Sports and CBS Sports. Charisma is a key characteristic for Richards and is likely to be a key contributor to his success in the industry.

A key figure in the BBC’s sports coverage, Chris Sutton is next on the list. The 51-year-old former Blackburn Rovers and Celtic striker is said to have pocketed a healthy figure of £200,000 between 2024 and 2025.
After also hanging up the boots, Sutton co-commentated the Celtic’s champions League coverage for TNT Sports and joined Sky Sports in 2023.
Sutton offered intricate analysis on Scottish football whilst balancing regular features on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 alongside Robbie Savage and as a pundit on BBC Sport.
He delivers brutal assessments with relentless one-word verdicts like “abject” or “woeful,” and has achieved success due to his unfiltered honesty.
Ian Wright remains a beloved pundit
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright takes 10th spot on the list with an annual salary of £150,000.
Wright is a national treasure and is applauded for his advocacy for the progression of women's football.
This is evidenced by his extended pit of knowledge for both games.
Wright made his first appearance on Match of the Day back in 1997 when he was still actively playing himself.
He has since gone on to appear regularly for the BBC and ITV, as well as sporadic guest appearances on American television with CBS.
