The former Brentford star had his vehicle damaged in London

England star Ivan Toney has taken to social media to express his frustration after his car was targets by thieves during a trip to London.

The 29-year-old forward, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, posted an image on Instagram showing his vehicle with smashed windows following the break-in.

Toney completed a £40million transfer from Brentford to Al-Ahli last year, marking his departure from English football after several successful seasons in the Premier League.

The incident occurred whilst the former Brentford striker was back in the capital during his summer break from Middle Eastern football. It remains unclear whether any items were stolen from the vehicle during the break-in.

"This is why I hate London," Toney declared in the caption accompanying the photograph.

The striker's debut campaign in Saudi Arabia proved highly successful, culminating in an Asian Champions League triumph. He demonstrated his scoring prowess by netting 30 goals across all competitions for his new club.

The car break-in incident represents an unwelcome interruption to what had been a positive summer break following his achievements in the Middle East. The former Peterborough player's Instagram post highlighted the damage to his vehicle, with multiple windows shown smashed by the perpetrators.

Toney received a recall to the England squad in June under new manager Thomas Tuchel, marking his return to international football after his move to Saudi Arabia.

Ivan toney has seen limited international playing time after moving to Saudi Arabia

The striker was named in the squad for matches against Andorra and Senegal but saw limited action during the international break. He remained an unused substitute during England's 1-0 victory over Andorra.

His only appearance came as a late substitute in the Three Lions' surprising 3-1 defeat to Senegal, where he managed just several minutes on the pitch. The limited playing time raised questions about his future role in Tuchel's plans for the national team.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Despite the unpleasant incident, Toney could find himself returning to London as early as September if he maintains his place in the England squad.

The Three Lions are scheduled to face Andorra at Wembley in their next international fixture. September's calendar also includes a match against Serbia, with further games against Wales and Latvia planned for October.

Ivan Toney was recalled for the last international break but he played few minutes

Whether Toney will feature more prominently in these upcoming fixtures remains to be seen, given his limited involvement in June's internationals.

His continued selection would necessitate regular returns to the capital, despite his expressed antipathy towards London following this week's criminal incident.
