The English star has been left out of England's upcoming matches due to injury

Chelsea fans have been left fuming with one Stamford Bridge star after a concerning update regarding Cole Palmer’s injury following their victory over Liverpool on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was substituted due to a groin injury in the first half of their chaotic defeat against Manchester United a fortnight ago, and has not been seen on the pitch since.

The former Manchester City midfielder is at the top of a very long list of wounded warriors at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

New signing Liam Delap suffered a lengthy setback just three games into the campaign, while Andrey Santos, Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo have also since joined him on the treatment table.

On Saturday, Enzo Maresca was forced into a new centre-back partnership of 19-year-old Josh Acheampong and Benoit Badiashile. However, both defenders were also forced off the pitch in the second half with injuries, causing further headaches in an already precarious situation for the Italian boss.

Dutch teenager Jorrel Hato was brought on in place of the injured Acheampong, with the defender also impressing in his 30-minute cameo.

However, the youngster has already sparked concern among the Chelsea faithful. Dressed as a fan rather than a player, Palmer made an appearance on the pitch after last night’s monumental victory, and could be seen greeting Hato, who struggled to contain his excitement.

The former Ajax star appeared to jump and throw himself at the injured playmaker, who immediately winced and held his groin, where he is said to have had surgery recently.

And fans were quick to react online out of caution for their injured talisman.

“Two weeks and it’s still that bad? Not looking positive,” one wrote.

Another noted the importance of his recent surgery: “He’s recovering from surgery so he was likely worried about his stitches, shouldn’t be on the pitch and risking it really…”

“Hato added another month to his groin,” a third joked.

While a fourth asked: “Why is he jumping on an injured player?”

Voicing his concern, another added: “This is not a good sign....surgery if that would solve the problem once for all and in good time.”

Hato had every right to be ecstatic after the host’s dramatic late victory against the champions.

From the off, the Blues were the better side and they saw themselves go 1-0 ahead courtesy of a thunderbolt from midfield star Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuadorian unleashed a venomous strike from more than 20 yards, leaving Liverpool goalkeeper and Premier League debutant Giorgi Mamardashvili no chance.

The visitors drew level in the second half through Cody Gakpo, but then failed to build on it, and it was Chelsea who continued to push for a winner.

Their endeavour was rewarded just moments from time; a delightful delivery across the six-yard box from Marc Cucurella was met emphatically by Brazilian youngster Estevao to score his first goal for the club and send Stamford Bridge into raptures.

While injuries have ravaged the squad in recent weeks, a lack of discipline on the pitch has also cost Maresca’s side.

Joao Pedro, Trevoh Chalobah and Robert Sanchez have all been shown a red card in the last fortnight, with Maresca himself now the latest addition to the list.

The former Leicester manager is set to be absent from the touchline for his side’s trip to Nottingham Forest after the international break. The Italian lost all composure when he sprinted the length of the touchline to celebrate with his team in the corner, receiving a second yellow card.

Maresca won’t mind too much, though, after ending a poor recent run of form against a strong, albeit underperforming, Liverpool side.
