Crystal Palace won the Community Shield on Sunday after beating Liverpool on penalties

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson celebrated Sunday's Community Shield triumph in remarkable fashion, spending £1,000 at a pub near Wembley to treat Eagles supporters to drinks.

The 28-year-old England international visited The Allsopp Arms following Palace's dramatic penalty shootout victory over Liverpool.

Henderson's generosity came after his heroic performance between the posts, where he denied spot-kicks from Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott to secure a 3-2 shootout win.

Jeremie Frimpong extended their advantage with a lobbed effort from a tight angle that caught Henderson off guard.

Oliver Glasner's Palace refused to surrender at Wembley. Jean-Philippe Mateta converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit before Ismaila Sarr struck on 76 minutes to force a shootout.

The penalty drama saw Mohamed Salah fire over the crossbar for Liverpool.

Henderson then emerged as Palace's hero, keeping out efforts from both Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott to clinch a 3-2 shootout victory for the Eagles.

Palace supporters discovered Henderson's generous act when the goalkeeper made an unexpected appearance at The Allsopp Arms following the trophy celebrations.

A supporter who encountered the former Manchester United keeper at the venue shared details on social media.

"Dean Henderson just stopped off at The Allsopp Arms and dropped a £1k off at the bar to buy us all a drink. Legend. Totally gets this club. Cheers," the fan posted, accompanied by a photograph with the three-cap England international.

The gesture further cemented Henderson's status amongst the Selhurst Park faithful, who have already embraced him as a fan favourite since his arrival at the club.

"I love the big moments, I love being in that pressure moment. The homework we did on penalties was great," the 28-year-old told TNT Sports.

The goalkeeper acknowledged Liverpool's quality whilst celebrating Palace's remarkable achievement. "They have unbelievable players and have a great team but two trophies in three months is incredible," he said.

Henderson reflected on Palace's resilience after falling behind twice. "These emotions are fantastic. With them 2-1 up you think we are out the game. The manager said we'd get chances and we did."
