The darts star has shared his results on social media

Luke Littler has finally claimed a victory away from the oche — passing his driving theory test at the seventh attempt.

The 18-year-old darts sensation, who has become accustomed to lifting trophies on the sport’s biggest stages, revealed that he had been struggling to clear one hurdle: the UK driving theory exam.

Littler had previously failed six consecutive attempts, even joking about his misfortune with fans online.

But on Friday afternoon, the reigning world champion took to Instagram to share the news his supporters had been waiting for.

Posting a picture of his pass certificate to his 1.9 million followers, Littler wrote: “We will have a look, of course we will have a look,” accompanied by three dancing emojis.

According to the DVSA, drivers must achieve a score of at least 43 out of 50 on the multiple-choice section and a minimum of 44 out of 75 on the hazard perception clips to pass.

Littler scraped through the theory questions with the bare minimum score but excelled in the hazard perception test, notching up an impressive 63 points.

He now has two years to pass the practical driving test or risk having to sit the theory exam again.

The teenager has been open about his struggles behind the wheel, regularly updating fans on social media.

In July, he admitted to failing for the fifth time, and earlier this month he confessed that his sixth attempt was "a bad one."

Earlier this week, Littler laughed off his struggles during a media appearance.

“No, not yet,” he said when asked about his progress. “I did do a theory the other week but I didn’t put it on my Instagram.

"Oh, it was a bad one. I’ll let you know that.”

Friday’s breakthrough now paves the way for Littler to chase his next target — his dream car.

Shortly after becoming the youngest world champion in history, he revealed he had his eye on a Mercedes A-Class.

“Last year I was looking at driving and I loved the Ford Focus,” he said earlier this year. “But now I’ve gone up in the world just a little. I’ve always loved a Mercedes A-Class. Just a small car.”

Given his meteoric rise in darts and reported earnings of over £1.5 million since turning professional, Littler will have no trouble getting behind the wheel of his preferred model once he passes the practical test.

The Warrington wonderkid will not have too much time to celebrate, however, as he is back in competitive action this weekend at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in Budapest, where he is seeded for Saturday’s evening session.

Earlier this week, Littler caused a stir by posting a tongue-in-cheek “retirement” video.

However, this later turned out to be a playful promotion for the upcoming EA Sports FC 26 video game.
