England have made a solid start to the second Ashes Test against Australia, with the Three Lions ending the first day on 325 for 9 at The Gabba.
Ben Stokes' side have entered the showdown under pressure following their spectacular collapse in Perth last time out.
But England stood tall as the day-night Test got under way, with Joe Root, Zak Crawley and Jofra Archer particularly impressive.
GB News now takes a look at a few heroes and villains from the opening three sessions.
Hero: Joe Root

Joe Root silenced his critics with a brilliant batting performance for England against Australia on day one of the second Ashes Test

Root has faced plenty of criticism regarding his form in Australia over the years. Prior to today, he'd never managed a century.
While he's often performed on the home front, it's been a completely different story when playing Down Under. That wait, however, is now over.
Root has finally arrived at an away Ashes - with the England star hitting an impressive 135 from 202 deliveries to boost his side's chances of victory. We wonder what the Australian press will have to say about him now...
LATEST SPORTS NEWS:
Villain: Ben Duckett
Five things to know about the Ashes | PABen Duckett is undeniably a talented batsman, having delivered consistently for England in recent years.
This, however, was a day to forget.
The opener was dismissed for a duck, with Mitchell Starc bowling and Marnus Labuschagne providing the catch.
Hero: Zak Crawley
Zak Crawley is a divisive figure for England and, in the first Test in Perth, he struggled. The batter failed to score any runs and delivered faced just 11 deliveries.
But this was a day of redemption, with the England star hitting a fine 73 from 93 deliveries to silence some of his critics.
Though he was unable to achieve a century, that innings bodes well for the rest of the series.
Villain: Ollie Pope

Ollie Pope was another batter to go for a duck.
Coming in at third in the pecking order, he lasted just three deliveries before being clean-bowled by Starc.
That placed England under pressure at 5 for 2 but, due to the brilliance of his teammates, the tourists were able to bounce back.
Honourable mention: Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer was the last England player to come in to bat.
And what an impact he made.
His knock of 32 - from just 26 deliveries - has given England yet another reason to be optimistic.
What about Australia?
Australia will be disappointed with the day. Having gone into the showdown hoping to blow England away, that didn't quite happen.
Starc was their best bowler, with the veteran taking three wickets across as many sessions.
But Michael Neser and Scott Boland found things far tougher, claiming just one wicket each. As for Brendan Doggett and Cameron Green, they were unable to claim any England victims.
