The duo will do battle on November 15

Chris Eubank Jr has wasted no time turning up the heat ahead of his highly anticipated rematch with Conor Benn – this time using his birthday cake to get under his rival’s skin.

Fresh from the press conference confirming their November 15 showdown, Eubank Jr celebrated turning 36 with a cake emblazoned with the now-infamous image of him slapping an egg into Benn’s face.

The middleweight posted a video gleefully cutting into the cake on social media, prompting fans to hail the stunt as another entry in Eubank’s long-running series of psychological mind games.

“Eubank trolling Hearn and Benn,” wrote one amused supporter, while another added: “Pettiness at its highest.”

The rematch is the latest chapter in a family feud that stretches back over three decades.

Eubank’s father, Chris Eubank Sr, famously defeated Nigel Benn in their classic 1990 clash before the pair fought to a dramatic draw three years later.

The rivalry was reignited in 2022 when their sons were set to meet in a catchweight bout at 157lb – only for Benn to fail two drug tests in the build-up.

Benn, 28, maintained his innocence throughout his UK Anti-Doping suspension, even as the WBC controversially suggested his positive test for clomifene could have been caused by eating too many eggs.

The ban was eventually lifted, paving the way for the grudge match to finally take place this April.

When the pair eventually met, Eubank Jr secured a dominant points victory over 12 bruising rounds – and not without making a statement beforehand.

At the launch press conference, he taunted Benn by theatrically cracking an egg on his face, a nod to the controversy that had kept the fight in limbo for more than two years.

The rematch was already contractually agreed but has been pushed from September to November.

Once again, it will be contested at 160lb with a strict 10lb rehydration clause, meaning both fighters will have to weigh in again on the morning of the bout.

Eubank Jr has made no secret of the toll that weight cut took on him, revealing he spent two days in hospital following their first meeting and sensationally accusing Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn of delaying his ambulance from leaving the arena.

“These scumbags blocked that ambulance from leaving the stadium for 20 minutes,” Eubank Jr alleged.

“I’m sitting there with an oxygen mask on, and they are standing by the gates and won’t let us leave.

"Now, if it were a serious injury, that 20 minutes could have been the difference between life and death.”

Hearn has strongly refuted the claims and threatened legal action, saying: “I couldn’t actually believe what I was hearing.

"And he said, ‘Oh, what are you gonna do, sue me?’ Yeah. Abso-f***en-lutely. Because you ain’t accusing me and my company of things like that.

"That will be dealt with.”

With the war of words already igniting, and Eubank’s trolling as sharp as ever, the stage is set for one of the most bitter rematches in recent British boxing history.

Who comes out on top this winter remains to be seen.
