Former kickboxer and influencer Andrew Tate would “welcome” a fight with boxing legend Roy Jones Jr, after the 56-year-old sensationally called the controversial influencer out for a fight this week.
Jones held four world championships at different weight categories, while his most recent fight was in 2023 where he lost by majority decision against American MMA fighter Anthony Pettis.
Tate is also a four-time world champion in kickboxing and played his hand in professional MMA fighting too, but had just one fight.
Speaking to Slingo, Jones said: “There are a lot of guys who fans would love to see me fight. Andrew Tate, he’s very controversial, he knows his boxing stuff a little, he's been watching me a long time, he says some very good things and sometimes not.
“But I like his guts, that he is not afraid to express himself. That makes a boxer, someone not afraid to express themselves.
“I’d like to fight him, he has one of the bigger platforms and would make the biggest splash.”
A spokesman for Tate sensationally responded by saying: “We would welcome the opportunity to initiate discussions regarding a high-profile fight between Roy Jones Jr and Andrew Tate, we are confident it would attract and captivate audiences worldwide"

GettyThe comments come in the week that Tate escaped criminal charges for an alleged attack on model Bri Stern in a Beverly Hills hotel due to a lack of evidence.
The 38-year-old was accused of repeatedly choking Stern during sex despite her demands to stop.
Tate’s attorney, Joseph McBride, explained that Tate had responded fully to the allegations and had made himself available for questioning, with the ex-MMA fighter always protesting his innocence.

Additionally, Tate’s civil court trial was moved forward this week to summer 2026, with the High Court judge saying she was “very keen to get on” with the case.
Tate’s last professional bout came in December 2020, where he defeated Cosmin Lingurar in the second round of a kickboxing match at the KO Masters.
While enduring a successful kickboxing career, Tate fought just once in MMA, but he is ready to lace his gloves for a blockbuster boxing bout against legend Jones.

GettyJones retired from the sport in 2018 but returned in 2020 for an exhibition match against former world champion Mike Tyson dubbed the “lockdown knockdown” that ended in an underwhelming draw.
He returned once more in a professional bout in 2023 but suffered the 10th defeat of his career.
Tate is not the only fighter Jones called out, as former Love Island star Tommy Fury also was of interest to Jones, who sensationally claimed a co-main event with Fury’s father John and Mike Tyson could also be on the cards.
He said: “Him [John Fury] and Mike [Tyson] can be the co-main event. We are all fighters at heart forever, I love them all as they are all good people and all fighters at heart.
“Me and Tommy Fury as the main event, that would be a card. Only Turki could afford that one.”
