The Young Lions claim victory in a thrilling final

Jonathan Rowe scored with his first touch off the bench in the opening moments of extra-time to secure the Euros glory for the Young lions.

Lee Carsley's men came out strong in the first half, scoring two goals within the first 30 minutes of the match, But Germany came fighting back as the first half progressed, capping off the half with a goal in injury time to claw their way back into the game.


Germany kept up their good form as they came out for the second half and Paul Nebel levelled the game with half an hour left to play.

The two teams have a storied history and this final was no different. The two teams produced end-to-end football and numerous chances, however both teams left chances on the table.

Thomas Tuchel was in attendance for the final to watch the Young Lions attempt to defend their Euros victory from two years ago. The England youngsters certainly put on a display worthy of getting the England manager's attention.

Elliott broke the deadlock with a clinical finish following a rebound from the German goalkeeper. The in-form striker capitalised after Alex Scott and Omari Hutchinson combined in the build-up to create the opportunity.

England doubled their advantage through Hutchinson, who received a perfectly weighted pass from captain James McAtee whilst unmarked in the penalty area. The winger showed no hesitation, drilling his shot through the goalkeeper's legs to send the Young Lions into dreamland.

Hutchinson, who previously represented Jamaica in friendly matches before switching allegiance to England, celebrated with evident joy after finding the net in such a crucial fixture.

Germany pulled one back through Nelson Weiper's commanding header. The striker rose highest between substitute Tyler Morton and Charlie Cresswell to power Paul Nebel's excellent cross into the top corner.

The goal arrived at a particularly damaging moment for England, who had been dominating proceedings with six attempts on goal. The Young Lions' defensive lapse allowed Germany a route back into the final.
