Royal commentator Pandora Forsyth has revealed that the Royal Family will be "relying on Princess Anne" as King Charles and Princess Kate address their health concerns.
The King is to undergo a "corrective procedure" on a benign enlarged prostate next week. The Princess of Wales is recovering in hospital after "planned abdominal surgery" on Tuesday. Both senior royals are expected to postpone engagements until they are fully recovered.
Forsyth told GB News: "Anne was the busiest working royal last year, so they should be relying on her. We've also got Edward and Sophie, who are very much in the fold."
But it does bring into question Eugenie and Beatrice, but then of course they are daughters of Prince Andrew, which is a whole other situation.
But this time of year is quite quiet for the royals, so if this was going to happen at any time, probably now would be the time to do it, in the least disrespectful way possible."
