The Royal Family are reluctant to reconcile with Meghan Markle despite being open to peace talks with Prince Harry, according to a source.
Last month, representatives from King Charles and Prince Harry's households held their first formal discussions in years.
The meeting at a London private members' club was the first phase of "peace talks" between the two sides.
Meredith Maines, the Duke of Sussex's new chief communications officer, who is based in California, attended alongside Liam Maguire, who manages the Sussexes' UK public relations operations.

A source told the Mail at the time: "There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years."
The source characterised the summit as merely the "first step towards reconciliation between Harry and his father, but at least it is a step in the right direction".
However, a separate insider has now claimed that while the Royal Family are open to a resolution with Prince Harry, they are reluctant to build bridges with Meghan.

Since then, they have launched several public attacks on senior royals through TV interviews and Harry's autobiography, Spare.
However, the couple want to end their rift with the Royal Family and are trying to initiate peace talks.
A source said: "It seems quite clear that they are desperate to start healing the rift."

Another royal insider claimed Prince Harry will never be able to regain the trust of Royal Family members after publishing intimate details in his autobiography, Spare.
The Duke of Sussex's autobiography was published in January 2023 and contained multiple attacks on senior members of the Royal Family.
It also contained private details of his exchanges with his family members, including Prince William and Princess Kate.
Many members of the Royal Family now feel they cannot chat with Prince Harry due to fears he will leak the details in a second autobiography, according to an insider.
