The Duke of Sussex has updated his official business records in this country to say he resides in the US

US journalist Lee Cohen has branded Harry's change of residence as "staggering" in a scathing analysis of the duke.

This comes as The Duke of Sussex has updated his official business records in this country to say he resides in the US rather than the UK.

Speaking to Nana Akua on GBN America Cohen said: "Harry is free to live wherever he wants, but it's really staggering.

"It's staggering that a prince of the blood has declared residence in another country, my country, and has no domicile in the land of his birth, and even has considered taking citizenship in a foreign country.

"If Harry felt disinclined to royal service, all he had to do was withdraw and keep a dignified, respectful silence out of respect for his family.

"Which is family, which is a part of a beloved thousand-year pillar of British society. It's not any family.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

"For financial gain, he launched unforgivable public attacks on them, published in his memoirs and accompanying interviews.

"That kind of behaviour isn't appreciated on this side of the Atlantic anymore than it is on your side."

He added: "I have to make the caveat that not everyone, not all of my countrymen and women, feel this way. But those of us who don't read the tabloid, supermarket press are a bit more discerning in this.

"On the one hand, Harry claims to still love his family dearly, as he said in interviews, etc. But in his autobiography, he savages them mercilessly, so it's really not appreciated. The hypocrisy is not appreciated some of us just find it intolerable."

It comes as the Biden administration is facing pressure to release Harry's visa records after he admitted to taking illegal drugs in his memoir Spare.

The Heritage Foundation is taking legal action against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a bid to force officials to release Harry's documents.

The organisation wants to see if the royal admitted to using illegal drugs before gaining a US visa.

In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex said he had taken cocaine, magic mushrooms and cannabis.

GETTY

In March 2024, Jane Hartley, the US ambassador to the UK, provided an update regarding the possibility of Prince Harry's deportation: "Well it’s not going to happen in the Biden administration."

However, just days ago, the Heritage Foundation submitted these remarks as part of their case to get the Duke of Sussex's visa records released.

The Heritage Foundation wrote: “Ambassador Hartley categorically stated that the Duke of Sussex will not be deported by the Biden Administration.

"Thus, the Executive Branch has now categorically stated that, regardless of future circumstances, they will decline to deport the Duke of Sussex – even in the most extreme of cases."
