Princess Kate is recovering in hospital following an abdominal surgery

The Queen has stepped out for a royal engagement today as the King is set for surgery this week.

Camilla travelled to Swindon today to visit the Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS) and Swindon’s oldest family run business, Deacon & Son Jewellers.

To mark the SDASS’s 50th anniversary, the Queen visited the charity’s refuge, Jenni’s House and met staff, volunteers and families involved with the charity.

Wiltshire Police and Swindon Borough Council highlighted their support, prevention, education and early intervention for victims of domestic abuse.

The SDASS provide services “designed to empower and protect” domestic abuse survivors and victims and raise awareness to keep survivors safe.

Her Majesty also met with families living in refuge and toured a resident’s flat before unveiling a plaque to celebrate the charity’s 50th anniversary. She then named the centre “Jenni’s House.”

Following her engagement with the SDASS, the Queen is expected to visit Deacon & Son Jewellers as it celebrates 175 years of trading.

At the jewellers, Camilla will meet with the Deacon family who have been running the business for six generations.

The Queen will also meet the staff who continue to use traditional skills and craftmanship in making and repairing clocks, watches and jewellery.

After Her Majesty tours the building and jewellery workshop, she will open the new clock and Rolex watch workshop and unveil a plaque to mark the special occasion.

Deacon & Son prides itself on jewellery with “exquisite craftmanship” and “timeless elegance that epitomises modern romance.”

The business was founded as a jeweller, watch and clock makers by George Deacon in 1848.

The business was born out of the industrial revolution as Deacon recognised the need for timekeeping in the fast-growing town, Swindon.

Both the King and the Princess of Wales are unable to perform any royal duties following their health procedures, leaving the Queen to attend more public engagements.

The Prince of Wales will also be absent public appearances while he cares for his wife and children following Kate’s abdominal procedure.

Cameron Walker, GB News Royal Correspondent, said: "The Queen, as we understand, it’s going to be keep calm and carry on, as are the less senior members of the Royal Family."
